Ōyamatsumi is a Mangekyō Sharingan dōjutsu and the highest level Earth Release technique. Said to represent the "Ever Growing Earth" () and is often paired with the Shakujin.

Overview[]

Ōyamatsumi like its kin technique is able to produce an element within the users focus. When used the Ōyamatsumi produces an instant blast of overpowering earth chakra at the users focal point. Coming in contact with the chakra causes it to rapidly spread along the target of focus, turning to stone as it does. As a result of the speed in which the chakra is produced, avoiding it is rather difficult. The earth produce by it is known to be extremely dense and hard, being capable of withstanding extreme blunt force attacks and powerful sword strikes with no damage.

Often functioning as a quick method to trap targets, the chakra produced can be used in various other ways. Focusing their gaze onto the earth itself a user is able to manipulate the earth, much like when using earth techniques without the need of hand seals. Lowering the strength of the earth chakra, a user is able to coat an individual in an powerful stone armor much like the Earth Release: Earth Spear. Uniquely the chakra produced is capable of overpowering the earth chakra of other techniques, allowing the user to shutdown other techniques. This can also be used on advanced natures that has earth chakra as one of its components, causing an imbalance, which in turns causes it to fall apart.

Like that of the Amaterasu, targets will remain petrified for a year. The technique can be cancelled at any time by the user. Living individuals that were petrified remain the same as the day they we initially turned to stone. In addition high level healing can stave off the petrifaction while lighting techniques being able to slow it down. With greater techniques being able to negate it regardless if a target is fully petrified.
