The Antler Blades are a special set of Ninja blades made specifically for Shusen Nara by his father to counteract the fact that Shusen has no apparent talent at Medical Ninjutsu. By running his regular chakra through the Antler Blades, his chakra gains the restorative properties the horns used to make them possess, allowing him to use "Medical Techniques" by molding chakra through his blades. The Process however, is something only someone who knows Medical Techniques inside and out can use, so Shusen is still required to study Medical Ninjutsu, arguably more than some actual Medical Ninja. Using a special forging technique to blend natural materials into Iron, the Antler blades retain the toughness that is expected of a Ninja tool.

Despite their many clashes of personality, Shusen's father Seisen had these blades made so Shusen could monitor his condition on his own, and keep himself safe, from both enemy ninja and himself.
