Aoide Fūma, née Shiin, was a kunoichi from the Land of Sound's Shiin Clan and previous vessel for Shiinshiki Otsutsuki. She spent most of her life in hiding from The Followers of Shiin and searching for her lost children.

Background[]

Early Life[]

The Land of Sound was once home to many shinobi clans, but relentless warfare left them devastated, their strength and numbers dwindling. Among them, the Shiin Clan stood as one of the oldest, tracing its lineage directly to Shiinshiki Ōtsutsuki. However, the clan’s legacy was fractured when a brutal civil war erupted, splitting them into two opposing factions: The Followers of Shiin and The Keepers of Shiin's Will. Aoide was born into The Followers’ faction.

Shortly after her birth, fate tore her from her family when she harmonized with Shiinshiki's Tuning Rods,—a sign of her rare compatibility with Shiinshiki’s Kāma. Such compatibility was exceedingly rare and unpredictable; for most, the ritual would trigger a fatal seizure. The first candidate perished before the process could even be completed. The second barely survived, but the attempt resulted in an unstable White Kāma. Then came the third—Aoide—who was chosen to become the perfect vessel, meant to fully balance and wield the immense power of Shiinshiki.

However, before the her Kāma could be fully developed, a daring escape was orchestrated by The Keepers. Kanoto Garasu and Shion Shiin risked everything to free Aoide from her cruel fate. In the end, Shion paid the ultimate price, sacrificing his life so that he Aoide and his daughter, Renge, could flee.

Shizukane Monastery Destroyed

Their escape would be short lived as The Followers tracked them to Shizukane Monastery. They manipulated a monk, Raizan Kagerou, into supplying them with a seal needed to enter the front gate. It wasn't long before The Followers launched a surprise attack to steal Aoide back. They descended upon the monastery. However, Kanato used a secret escape route beneath the monastery. When the battle turned against them, Kanato, realizing they couldn’t fight their way out, activated this hidden seal, revealing a subterranean passage. He carried Aoide through the tunnel as the monastery collapsed behind them, sealing their pursuers out.

Hidden Sand Church

Their path eventually led them to the Church of the Hidden Sand, the Monastery’s sister church located within the borders of Sunagakure. Years after escaping to Sunagakure, Aoide and Renge had been taken in by the nuns. But when Iwagakure attacked during the Second Shinobi War, they targeted the church to steal its Fūinjutsu knowledge. Despite the nuns' resistance, Iwagakure captured several, including Aoide.

Shiro saves Aoide

By chance, Shiro Fuma stumbled upon the Iwagakure unit while on a seperate mission. Realizing the opportunity, he decided to ambush the Iwagakure forces. During the battle to free Aoide, she used a genjutsu to disorient the Iwagakure forces. As she sang the incantation, her beautiful voice captivated Shiro, who found himself mesmerized by her presence and skill. Her power, combined with her grace, left a deep impression on him. After a fierce battle, Shiro successfully freed the nuns and the two fell in love.

Toward the end of the war, Shiro Fuma married Aoide, seeking solace in the life they had fought so hard to build. In time, they welcomed their first child, Arikurin. Once hailed as a war hero, Shiro chose a quieter path after Arikurin’s birth, stepping away from the battlefield to embrace fatherhood. He took on safer, strategic missions and dedicated himself to training the next generation of shinobi, ensuring they would be strong enough to protect the village in his stead.

Akira and Akiri

For a time, peace seemed possible. One evening, after returning from a mission, Shiro was met with joyous news—Aoide was pregnant again. He held her close, whispering promises of a future where their children would never know war. Months later, she safely gave birth to twins, Akiri and Akira, filling their home with the laughter of new life. But peace was never meant to last.

FOS Agents

Shiro's home is attacked

The Followers of Shiin had not forgotten. They scoured the Land of Sound, relentlessly searching for Aoide, for her bloodline—until, at last, they found her. Their home was brutally attacked, torn apart in a fiery assault. Shiro reacted instantly, his instincts sharpened by years of war. He cut through over ten enemies, his arrows tearing them apart like leaves in a storm. But then came the final agent—a warrior unlike the rest. This one was stronger, faster, a master of assassination. The battle between them was furious, their attacks shaking the earth beneath them.

Shiro knew he could not afford to lose. Not with his wife and children still within reach of these monsters. But his opponent was relentless, their strength matching his own. There was only one way to ensure his family’s escape. With no other choice, Shiro invoked a forbidden murder-suicide technique—a deadly jutsu that linked his heart to his opponent’s, mirroring any internal damage inflicted on one to the other. His enemy's smirk faltered as they realized what he had done. He struck. Both hearts stopped.

As Aoide went to Shiro's side, Arikurin and Akiri were swept into the night, their small forms lost in the chaos. Akira was taken—her cries swallowed by the shadows. Once she had recovered, Aoide was in care of the Fuma clan. Soon she set out in search of her lost children, determined to bring them home.
