Banri is the current Prime Minister of the Land of White Lotuses (白蓮の國, Byakuren no Kuni) located in Nishino (西野, literally meaning: The Western Plains). It is renowned for its serene beauty and the luminous lotus blossoms that cover its marshes. Yet, beneath this placid surface, the country was once plagued by the ravings of a Mad Lord - that is, until Bari slew him, free the people, and gained control of the nation. In the first few months of his reign, Banri forged treaties with other lands, audited military contracts, and burned old alliances. For him, good governance in an age of hidden gods and pervasive corruption was novelty. But this land was now his land and its people his people - there was nothing he would not do for it.

Appearance[]

Like his parents, Banri's skin holds a fair luminescence that contrasts beautifully with the darkness of his wild, windswept hair - it is a rich brown and flows like autumn leaves caught in a breeze. Stray locks fall artfully across his face, framing his refined features that seem to hold a hint of natural arrogance and composed authority. His eyes, like pools of liquid amber, brim with an intelligence and intensity that borders unnerving. He wears fine tan-brown robes, the fabric draped across his strapping form to where they reveal a glimpse of his collarbone and chest. Small wooden beads dangle decoratively from them, adding a subtle touch of ornamentation.

Personality[]

Banri, as a Prime Minister, encapsulates what one often finds in politicians. Strategic charm, calculating intellect, and the will do what he must no matter the consequences - both those that affect him and the people he governs. He inherits an almost divine allure and manipulative grace, his words able to influence others far more effectively than force ever could. With it, he navigates the complexities of the bureaucratic realms with masterful diplomacy and pragmatic ambitions - he weights every word, somehow paving the way for unlikely alliances and helping negotiate power balances across Nishino with ease.

Abilities[]

Chakra and Physical Prowess[]

Banri's chakra, on the fringes of both the divine and arcane, was a phenomenon that even the gods wished to study. Just a casual release could sow doubt in the minds of those against him or inspire them to drop their arms and follow him. He possessed a covetous understanding of chakra to where complexities such as absorbing it through the briefest of contact, sensing it was simple matter, and he could mold and utilize it with utmost ease and divine intricacy that puts human masters to shame. To him, the creation of Fire, Water, and Wind Releases are a mere trifle and his command over them are unquestionable. Like his progenitors, he was capable of effortless flight and generating rifts in the fabric of space, granting him the ability to travel to different locations or dimensions.

To underestimate Banri's physical capabilities is to instigate one's own ruin; his celestial prowess in sōjutsu (槍術, literally meaning: the art of the spear) alone in combination with his speed are decidedly impressive enough to contend with those who have practiced for the greater portion of their lives. His technique unfolds like a midnight blossom and flows like the river; beautiful yet deadly, like the gentle stream and rushing rapids.

Amanosakahoko[]

The Amanosakahoko (天逆鉾, literally meaning: Inverted Spear of Heaven) is an enchanted (魅力の, miryokuno) spear gifted to Banri from his father, Chihirō. It is considered a Divine Construct (神造兵装, Shinzō Heisō) that makes full use of the might sealed within it. With it, Banri is firstly granted a nigh-peerless and adamantine armament that effortlessly pierces the space between dimension as well as the material and spiritual, allowing him to bring down anything that treads the myriad realms as its power seems to affect all things regardless of composition. In many witnessed cases just a single strike is enough to slay what Banri sets his mind to, as it is a sentient weapon that seeks to please him. He may freely manipulate it telepathically and create seemingly countless duplicates of his sacred spear, each as perilous as the first, in addition to altering their dimensions such as size and span. In the throes of an epic battle against an advancing threat on a foreign land it is whispered that Banri created upwards eight thousand Amanosakahoko to lay waste to Nishino's enemies earning him the title of Yachihokonokami (八千矛神, literally meaning: God of Eight Thousand Spears) - it is generally believed this number is greatly exaggerated although Banri would never confirm.

As the Amanosakahoko is sentient and bound to Banri, he may call upon it from wherever he desires and cause it manifest in his hand or any visualized location using its innate space-time properties. Notably, this ability may also be used inversely, allowing Banri to teleport to any location within a two hundred meter radius that a copy of his spear may occupy in addition to any being that may have been struck by Amanosakahoko, even if the wound was minimal or has long been healed. For Banri, this is of the greatest blessings - for his enemies, the deadliest of curses.

Divine Sword: Kenmyōren[]

Divine Sword: Kenmyōren (神剣: 顕明連) is a weapon Banri acquired after slaying its original wielder, the kijin Ōtakemaru. This blade does not merely cut flesh, but severs the very veils between worlds. It can slice open rifts into spiritual realms and even the hells themselves, the horrors of the Narakas glimpsed upon in mere moments. The power of the hells can be wrought upon the living, imposing a true and final death upon all things and sentenced to inevitable karmic judgement.

It is a rare occurrence for Banri to reveal this weapon - it is kept sealed for he understands its true nature. It’s might is of the greatest temptation and offers a play at power akin to godhood, but there is always a price to pay. And he knows that the cost may become too much.
