The Barrier: Red Yang Method Formation (結界・赤陽法陣, Kekkai: Sekiyō Hōjin) is a powerful Barrier Ninjutsu originally created by the Uzumaki Clan.
Overview[]
A defensive maneuver that is common among the Elemental Nations, this technique was developed by an unknown Uzumaki clansmen during the Warring States Era; made with the intent of protection during the heat of battle. By harnessing their vitality and converting it into super-strong chakra, the user is able create constructs of crimson-colored energy. This is done through careful manipulation of the ratios of spiritual and physical energies, which make the conjured shield super thick and elastic; dense and strong enough to block against attacks, while still possessing enough malleability that it won't easily shatter.
From there, the crimson energy is directed by the user's will to take whatever shape they wish it to. Though the most common formation is that of a dome, it can also take on other forms like a wall or a simple circular shield. The technique's only limits are only the caster's creativity and their force of will. Once the needed chakra is molded and given in supply, the technique will activate near instantaneously: as long as the user is aware that an attack is being directed their way, the barrier will manifest with little more than a thought to defend them.
Created by the Uzumaki, the Red Yang boasts high defensive power that is beaten by few. When attacked, rather than shattering or even denting, the barrier will simply become distorted; tanking the attack and repelling it back to the original caster, before snapping back to its original form. Even the famed Rasengan and Raikiri would not be enough to make so much as a scratch on the barrier: a testament to the technique's fortitude. As a result, it has gained fame as one of the most powerful barrier technique's in the shinobi world.
Weaknesses and Drawbacks[]
While its potency is undeniable, no power is without its cost and the Red Yang Formation is no exception. To start, this is not a technique that just anyone can use. For the average ninja, the it has been shown to cost no less than a quarter of their natural chakra supply. As a result, it cannot be spammed or used carelessly. Second, a high amount of knowledge of yin and yang energies is required: needed so the user can know how to properly balance said powers. This in turn means that the caster bust be at least on the level of a seasoned Chūnin.
Lastly, for all of the Red Yang's strength and durability, certain powerful techniques and abilities are able to weaken and even overcome this technique. Kekkei Tōta such as the Dust Release, or incredibly advanced taijutsu like those that utilize the Eight Gates are examples of techniques that have an easier time fighting against the barrier. Though they will not be able to shatter the formation outright, only a handful of blows from the supremely powerful abilities will be required to destroy it.
