Copper Powder (銅粉, Dō-ko, Literally meaning: Copper Powder) is the weapon created by Tōji of Sunagakure to counter the Magnet Release and iron sand when used against his homeland.
Overview[]
When Sunagakure faced attacks from a terrorist cell of missing-nin from Ishigakure, one of the key terrorists controlled iron sand through electromagnetism to create a giant version of his body. At that time, Tōji obsessed with discovering a way to combat magnetism users, particularly those who manipulated iron sand. He was already familiar with the stories of the Third Kazekage, the creator of this method, and how his powers were exploited for evil by the missing-nin Sasori.
Tōji buried himself in training and studies until he managed to develop a technique capable of countering this Kekkei Genkai. It was then that he finally mastered the natural enemy of iron sand: copper powder.
When a highly magnetized magnet comes close to copper, it seems like it's being pulled by an invisible force. In the case of Tōji's technique, mastering copper allows his attacks to counter the magnetized movement of the iron sand. It slows down the magnetic element's attacks and even forces them to float away. After mastering this technique, Tōji not only became a formidable opponent even against Gaara's sand, which also had magnetic particles mixed into it, but also began to stand out in the village. However, because his techniques were "the natural enemies of the Kazekage's sand," suspicions arose about how dangerous he could be to Gaara.
In addition to the natural advantages against magnetism, by mastering copper powder, Tōji also developed techniques that allowed him to mold the powder into giant weapons, as copper was one of the first materials used to create weapons in the past. One of Tōji's signature techniques was Supreme Absolute Formation: Guard of Jōmon, which transformed copper into a spear and a highly resistant shield. In battle, Tōji also uses his copper to coat his Suna flak jacket like a armor, which he can use offensively in battle, in case there are no other sources of copper to assist him.
Trivia[]
The magnetic phenomenon involving magnets and copper happens due to eddy currents. When the magnet moves, it alters the magnetic field around it, and the copper reacts to that, generating its own magnetic fields.
