Developed by the Uzumaki clan to use all their hiden techniques in their repertoire. This fighting style combines their adamantine chains, fūinjutsu prowess, superhuman vitality, and kenjutsu talents for overwhelming offensive cuts and stabs with rapid defensive counterattacks, using an opponent’s strength and speed against them, whilst supplementing their basic ninja skills against single opponents or on the battlefield.
During the Third Shinobi World War, Kushina Uzumaki used the Dance of the Maelstrom of her clan which earned the moniker Konoha’s Red Death (赤い死, Akaishi, Viz: Crimson Death) after using it to fight against the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist alongside the Tailed Beast Without a Tail (尾を持たない尾獣, O o Motanai Bijū, Viz: Zero-Tails, English TV: Tailless Tailed Beast).
Later, Naruto Uzumaki would learn the Dance of the Maelstrom during his mission to the Land of Whirlpools where he attained mastery upon facing battling against Umibōzu. He also used it against Pain, Sasuke Uchiha at the Land of Frost, and throughout the Fourth Shinobi World War. Naruto also took the Dance of the Maelstrom to the next level by layering elemental ninjutsu on top of his Sage Mode, Nine-Tails Chakra Mode, and Six Paths Sage Mode during the climactic battle between Madara, Obito, and Sasuke.
Menma and Himawari Uzumaki inherited their mother’s Byakugan and are attempting to combine both the Dance of the Maelstrom with the Gentle Fist to create a new fighting style for the Uzumaki and Hyūga clan.
