Akigumo Kurama (鞍馬秋雲, Kurama Akigumo) is a former Elite Jōnin of Konohagakure's Noble Kurama Clan. Famed as the Dreamwalker, she is regarded as not only one of the most skilled Kunoichi to have been produced from Konoha, but also one of the strongest shinobi in the history of her Clan. As a child, Aki would be drafted into Root where she learned to hone and master her abilities under Danzō's unyielding eye. With Danzō's untimely demise and the subsequent Fourth Shinobi World War, she became a proper member of Konoha's forces: taking over the Analysis Unit following the death of Inochi Yamanaka.
The former lover of Shenron Uzumaki, Aki would meet the man during his travels and frequent visits with Lord Seventh. While initially put off by his playboy tendencies, she would grow to care for him after a mission where he saved the life of one of her teammates: coming to head in a night of tenderness. The two would have a intense relationship, but Aki ultimately ended things as she realized that Shenron would never truly change. Unknown to the Uzumaki Lord, Akigumo would bear him a son before getting married to a woman who truly made her happy.

Akigumo Kurama was born just before the Third Shinobi World War as the only daughter of Sôun Kurama, a Kunoichi of the Kurama Clan, and Shirō, a traveler from the Land of Lightning. Her name comes from the beautiful autumn day she was on born on, and the Kurama Clan tradition of cloud-themed names. For the first few years of her life, Aki had the fortune of being given a loving family who constantly doted on her. However, she when she as five years old, Konoha was attacked and the Nine-Tails ravaged the village. While the beast would be sealed away, it left a trail of death and destruction in its wake: with one of the many casualties being Sôun and Shirō.
Now an orphan, Aki entered the Konoha Ninja Academy just a year later. During her time as a student, she displayed a genjutsu talent that kept in line with the Kurama name and it wasn't long before those around her began referring to her a prodigy. Soon enough, her abilities caught the attention of Hiruzen Sarutobi and his council. After careful evaluation, it was determined that Aki's abilities were too great to be allowed to squander as she could potentially bring back the glory of one of the village's Noble Clan's. To ensure that she remained strong, the young kunoichi-in-training would be given over to Danzō Shimura and made a member of his Root division. With her parents dead, it was a simple matter to take Aki and erase her from the memories of her clansmen.

Akigumo Kurama is a slender and dark-skinned woman, with violet hair and amber eyes. At a full six-feet and one inch, she stands quite tall: easily taller than the average woman and even some men
, with clear muscles and sharp features. In the past, Aki's hair was quite short: cut just long enough to reach her neck. While she grew it out after the birth of her son, it was cut once more after her detainment to the Blood Prison. She has been described as a face that is open, but sly: in short, her expressions only ever tell what she allows them to.
Aki's most typical choice of wear is a uniform-like garments reminiscent of her days in Root: a sleeveless and backless black outfit, with matching arm-warmers, combat boots, and her Konoha forehead protector tied around her neck like a choker. During her down time, she trades the outfit in for a simple white dress and black boots. She often wears a long, white doctor-like coat with outfits, the back of which is emblazoned with the Kurama wing symbol.
