Hotaru flows a layer of chakra through his chakra threads, to form a layer of chakra on his puppets. He then sends Fire Release chakra through the threads, setting his puppets ablaze. Covered by a shield of fire, Taijutsu attacks or attacks weak to fire are immediately rendered useless. However Hotaru can only maintain this technique very briefly or he'll risk losing excessive chakra, making it a useful surprise attack; very effective against Taijutsu.
