The Fire Release: Red Flame Rasengan is a Fire Release variation of the Wind Release: Rasenshuriken.
Overview[]
The Red Flame Rasengan was invented by Kazuto Ryūken shortly after he witnessed the completion of Naruto Uzumaki's Wind Release: Rasenshuriken. Having better chakra control than Naruto at the time, Kazuto has the help of a single shadow clone rather than two in the Red Flame Rasengan's formation: he creates the Rasengan while his clone adds his fire nature. Once formed, streams of red flames swirl around the central Rasengan core. Its crimson flames are especially hot, being able to burn through almost anything it collides with. By adulthood, Kazuto is able to create the Red Flame Rasengan without aid.
After travelling a certain distance or colliding with a target that it can't burn through, the central sphere of the Red Flame Rasengan detonates, producing a vortex of flames in the immediate area. Within this vortex, the enemy is caught in a barrage of countless, powerful, burning explosions, so many that even the Sharingan can't count them all.
Development[]
When Kazuto first starts using the Red Flame Rasengan there are two flaws in its usage: it is prone to sporadically dissipating after being formed. In order to keep it stable, Kazuto must use it as a melee weapon, thrusting the Red Flame Rasengan into targets in the same way that he does the standard Rasengan. This in turn causes the severe burn damage his targets receive to also be inflicted on whichever arm Kazuto holds the Red Flame Rasengan with, though his arm isn't damaged quite as extensively. Nevertheless, it poses enough of a risk to him that it is classified as Kinjutsu.
Kazuto is able to overcome these flaws by learning senjutsu. By coating the Red Flame Rasengan in senjutsu chakra, its shape is maintained after formation, meaning that he can use it as a projectile and, as a result, that he no longer needs to worry about damaging himself. When thrown, the Red Flame Rasengan travels very quickly, enough to blast through a Tengai Shinsei in under a second. Once thrown, Kazuto can remotely expand the Red Flame Rasengan to either compensate for imprecise aim or to catch dodging targets, though its speed is great enough that this is rarely necessary. In place of the Rasengan he uses for the center of the Red Flame Rasengan, he can use Truth-Seeking Balls that will create significantly larger explosions upon detonation.
