This technique is a smaller variation of the absorption ninjutsu known as Grudge Rain, that is performed by Shūrin alone. Instead of creating large clouds, he is seen producing a more compact and localized set of cloud, that produce the rain in question. However, due to the modifications made to this technique by applying his knack for shape and property transformation, Shūrin is able to rapidly increase the internal friction and thus viscosity of this rain, as a result, by the time it hits the ground, it has a more syrup-like consistency. Once the target has become drenched in this rain, it will be hard for them to move through these slippery and thick rain particles. By decreasing their ease of movement, Shūrin ensures draining of their chakra.

The viscosity can theoretically be increased to the point that it resembles the adhesiveness of gum. Since the use of chakra required to change this internal property is directly supplied by the chakra draining rain to the user, the user should have no problem increasing the viscosity to his heart's desire.
