The Hōzuki clan (鬼灯一族, Hōzuki Ichizoku) was one of the noble clans of Kirigakure but lost many members and political power since the Second Shinobi World War and the Kaguya Clan's raid respectively. Since Roka Hōzuki took leadership of the clan, though, the clan has been steadily reviving itself. The clan is made up of individuals who have the ability to turn their bodies into a liquid form.

Abilities

The members of this clan possesses the ability to turn their bodies into a liquid form using the Hydrification Technique. This allows them the ability of advance reconnaissance and the ability to dodge any physically attack by liquefying their entire bodies, close included. They can also use jutsu that utilize the hydrification technique, such as Water Gun Technique. They also have the ability to combine with water, allowing them to become far larger than their original size. Due to all of these factors, members of this clan have a natural affinity to water based techniques.

Weaknesses

The hydrification technique is a very resourceful and useful technique, but it has its fair number of drawbacks. Members of this clan need to stay hydrated at all times and are known to carry water bottles, and other such objects, around with them. They also have a weakness to lightning techniques; when they turn their bodies to water, and they are hit with a lightning technique, they are unable to liquidize properly. The only other weakness they have are airtight containers, which prevent free movement and, when they pass out in one, they turn into a comatose, jelly-like state.
