The Hagoromo Clan (羽衣一族, Hagoromo Ichizoku) is one of the earlier clans which has existed and survived throughout the war-torn era preceding the creation of the hidden villages and once held an iron-clad alliance with the Uchiha Clan. There has been a shroud of mystery around their origins and way of life, kin, and predecessors, their history forgotten by their descendants who don't have anything to tie them to such a begone clan.
Background[]
Warring Period[]
Before the establishment of the shinobi villages, the Warring States Period was a time of endless bloodshed, where clans fought for power, survival, and dominance. In this chaotic era, the Hagoromo Clan stood as one of the oldest and most revered bloodlines, direct descendants of the Sage of Six Paths, Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki. However, despite their divine origins, the clan had long since fractured, splitting into various sects and losing much of their once-mythical power. Centuries after the Sage’s era, the Hagoromo Clan was no longer a unified force. Instead, it had splintered into multiple factions, each with different ideologies regarding how they should wield their inherited chakra arts and the teachings of their ancestor:
Some of the Martial Disciples aligned themselves with Daimyō and rising warlords, becoming personal bodyguards or commanders of elite forces. The Hermetic Sages attempted to broker peace, but many were hunted down by feudal lords who feared their sealing techniques and forbidden knowledge. Meanwhile, the Blood Purists, in their obsession with maintaining their ancient power, resorted to kidnapping and forced genetic experiments, which led to conflict with the Senju and Uchiha clans. Due to internal conflict over their future and the increasing influence of other rising clans, such as the Senju and Uchiha, the Hagoromo name gradually faded, leaving only whispers of their once-mighty legacy. Despite their decline, remnants of the Hagoromo Clan still played key roles in the Warring States Period, often as advisers, warriors, or rogue scholars who possessed knowledge beyond most shinobi. However, without a central leadership, they became scattered, their influence diluted.
Founding Village & Shinobi Era[]
During the era of the shinobi villages, the once-great Hagoromo Clan, direct descendants of the Sage of Six Paths, had long been considered a dying bloodline. While traces of their lineage persisted in various clans, the pure inheritance of Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki’s will and chakra had all but faded. That is until Kuraokami, the Wyrm God of the Sea, intervened—reviving the Hagoromo bloodline not through mere restoration, but by forging a new lineage through his divine essence. In order to anchor this newly reborn clan, Kuraokami created a daughter—a being both mortal and divine, embodying the combined might of the Wyrm God and the Hagoromo lineage. She was named Urikohime (瓜子姫, "Melon-Princess"), a name derived from ancient folklore, symbolic of a child born from something unexpected and miraculous.
With her birth, the Hagoromo name was no longer one of the past, but one of the future. She gathered the remnants of her kin, those whose diluted blood had left them after centuries of marrying and reproducing with common folk. Heralding herself as the second coming of the Hagoromo Dynasty and messiah of the Shinobi world, here to cleanse the world of its corruption and unite the five great nations into a single kingdom.
