Inyō Daikinkō (陰陽大均衡, Inyō Daikinkō, Literally meaning: Yin and Yang's Great Equilibrium), more simply known as the phenomena of chakra absorption, is a unique genetic mutation that appears randomly and sporadically around the world. It naturally manifests within up one percent of the population, although it can also be recreated through use of mediums such as techniques or tools, or other resources.

History[]
Like all abilities, the power known as Inyō Daikinkō is derived from the Progenitor of Chakra. The first being on earth to ever utilize chakra, Kaguya possessed the ability to absorb virtually any chakra-powered technique. Likewise, she could absorb the energies of those she enslaved, via her connection to the God Tree.
After her sealing and the subsequent spreading of the gift of the chakra by the Sage of Six Paths, a select few would showcase that they too possessed the same absorption ability as the Rabbit Goddess, albeit far less powerful. By simple physical contact, they were able to absorb their victim's chakra and add it to their own reserves, while leaving those it was used against weakened and crippled. As a result, the power was held in a negative light, with many referring it to as "unholy" if not downright abominable.
In the millennia that passed, the ability would continue popping up; often random, and seemingly without cause. Due to the fact that it was not unique to any singular individual or clan, the ability was not recognized as a Kekkei Genkai and was instead given the Hiden designation. Throughout the generations, research into the phenomena would continue to take place.
Mechanics[]
In its mechanics, Inyō Daikinkō is not simply "chakra absorption" but rather, something more formidable and complex. It allows the user to break down chakra to its base components of physical and spiritual energy, which are then siphoned and safely metabolized, being added to the user's own reserves. The exact speed of this absorption greatly depends on a number of factors: the user's skill, their conviction or lack of, how they are going about the siphoning, and the overall potency and complexity of a technique.
In any case, even momentary contact is enough to greatly drain the average shinobi, and is more than capable of "devouring" low-level techniques with little to no trouble. It has also been shown that, at least in the hands of an advanced or master user, direct physical contact is not always required for siphoning. Should they have the skill to do so, a user is more than capable of using their ability in combination with tools in a way similar to that of chakra flow, or even wards. As a result, Inyō Daikinkō is also held in high esteem as a versatile ability, albeit there is still more than a little bi of wariness surrounding it.
Relationship with Dark Release[]
After years of research, it has been revealed that Inyō Daikinkō is capable of evolving in a vein not dissimilar to a certain cursed bloodline and its evolution. In every generation, there are handful who manifest this ability in its entirety. These select few go on to develop the Kekkei Genkai known as Dark Release.
One such example of this phenomena is Tetsuya Kurayami, the currently only known possessor of Dark Release in the modern world.
