The Iron Kettle Seal is an A-rank sealing technique unique to Sunagakure. For generations the Kazekage have used the seal to imprison Shukaku first in a tea kettle and later within its various jinchūriki. Unlike the similar sealing techniques preformed by the other shinobi villages, the Iron Kettle Seal is noticeably weaker, binding Shukaku's body and chakra to the jinchūriki while doing little to restrain it's mind. In jinchūriki like Gaara, this causes an unstable mind as the tailed beast attempts to overcome the host's mind and take control. Stronger jinchūriki, like Bunpuku, could resist this drawback by resorting to a constant meditative state and yet other jinchūriki, such as Bunbuku lack this drawback altogether due to his more friendly relationship with the beast.

Description[]

The seal physically appears as a kanji on the jinchūriki's body. In the case of Bunpuku and his descendant, Bunbuku, this marking takes the form of two kanji on their palms: "accept" (受, ukeru) and "heart" (心, kokoro). In the case of Gaara, these kanji are combined on his forehead as "love" (愛, ai). The inner structure of the seal is simple: a watery world shrouded in darkness, surrounded by sand spikes.

Trivia[]

  • It seems that a user of Magnet Release is required to become Shukaku's jinchūriki.
