Jōshō Unariten (唸り天上昇, lit. "Ascending Roar of Heaven") is a samurai residing in the Land of Serenity. Hailing from the Unariten Family, she stems from a proud and fiercely independent line of samurai, who have spent centuries in the borderlands of Iron Country. Naturally, they were exposed to ideas and concepts outside of the world of "Bushi", among them the elements, which would merge with their swordsmanship into the signature Jinrai. Born into an open, receptive family, Jōshō was encouraged to both hone her skills and develop new ones, drawing inspiration from whatever would help her complete her personal fighting style. Adventuring was part of this, placing her on the path to meeting her future wife. Though only travel companions at first, a reliable sense of teamwork cultivated something more. Since marrying, the two have settled in Land of Serenity, followed shortly by the rest of Jōshō's kin. And now....motherhood beckons.

Personality

Despite a straight-laced aura and at times stoic, unchanging expression, Jōshō proves to be anything but. Thanks in large part to a receptive, exploratory kingroup, Sho was encouraged to try whatever she wished. This included finding new means of empowering her clan's fighting style, eventually developing the purple lightning she's known for, then passing teaching her wife. She is commonly described by Kasuka as "dauntless", venturing into the unknown, the dangerous, and peculiar without a care. Some go as far as to say she is fearless, having never known failure. Unfortunately for them, this false, as she does know failure, but is perfectly comfortable with it, seeing each failure as a stepping stone to a greater success. Josho exhibits great patience as a result; whether it is mastering a particular difficult sequence of attacks, or convincing her then friend (now wife) to come out of her shell. The samurai is content to go at both her own pace and the pace of others, whichever proves more effective in the long-run. More than anything else though, she places a premium on kin, remaining fiercely loyal to the family, and happily glomping any Unariten she meets. Any who avoid the gloom is usually subjected to another one the moment they drop their guard.
