The Kokutan clan (黒檀一族, Kokutan Ichizoku) is one of the three noble clans of Tobikakurenai Village, and during the Warring States Period before the founding of the hidden villages was one of the most feared and famous clans of the northwest region, between the Lands of Wind, Waterfalls and Rice Fields. Together with some allies, they were responsible for the destruction of a Kirigakure bunker and the establishment of the Tobikakurenai Village in the Land of Recoil.

Overview[]

The Kokutan Clan became famous in the northeast in the period before the implementation of the hidden villages around the world. Unlike the Senju and Uchiha, the Kokutan clan's members had not a single enemy clan and its alliances changed according to its needs. Due to its bloodline, the Kokutan developed unique practices and special taijutsus, highlighting the other clans in this type of techniques. Their abilities with ninjutsus are also legendary, even though the main feature of the clan are body techniques.

The most famous member of the clan was Himuki Kokutan whose dominion over the Steel Release stood out from the other members who have such kekkei genkai. Himuki possessed ideals of greatness and wished to found a village that could oppose the force of the Senju growing in the Land of Fire, however the village founded by Himuki initially suffered problems both political and financial, especially for having openly declared enmity with one of the Five Great Shinobi Countries.

Himuki possessed great zeal and appreciation for his village and its inhabitants, so he forgot the skirmishes and the rivalries that existed during the war-torn era and created an alliance with the Senju and Konohagakure consequently. His closeness with Hashirama Senju, few years ago before his death, made his mindset change and his desire for progress stopped being so ardent. Himuki also created the Will of Air (空気の意志, Kūki no Ishi).

Although the Kokutan clan continued to exist in Tobikakurenai (being one of the three noble clans of the village) is not aware of other Steel Release users after Himuki's generation.

Triviaa[]
