Uzushio

Ruins of Uzushiogakure.

The Land of Whirlpools (渦の国, Uzu no Kuni, Viz: Land of Eddies) is where the Uzumaki clan originates from. It no longer exists, having been destroyed and the rest of the survivors scattered across the world. The surname Uzumaki was very common in this country. It was located on an island off of the coast of the Land of Fire. Several great whirlpools lie off of the coast, preventing the passage of great numbers to the island. In the combined attack noted to have destroyed the country, the Water Prison Technique was used to protect troops through the whirlpools.

Uzushiogakure[]

Uzushiogakure (渦潮隠れの里, Uzushiogakure no Sato, English TV: Hidden Eddy Village, Literally meaning: Village Hidden by Whirling Tides) was the shinobi village of the Land of Whirlpools. Its ninja were renowned for their fūinjutsu to the point that it led to its destruction in war. Those who survived the village's destruction scattered across the globe to seek refuge, as in the case of Anjin's Mentor and Kushina Uzumaki.

Unnamed Fishing Village[]

An unnamed fishing village in the Land of Whirlpools is home to several members of the Shio Clan. This village had its own, small shinobi program after the fall of Uzushiogakure. But as this program declined, the parents of Yakedo Shio instituted a barbaric training practice on orphans they secreted away. This practice tainted their chakra signatures and artificially aged them into adults. This "private army" was killed, along with the two adults leading it, by their son Yakedo Shio. After his departure, several other clan members left, including Moyashi Shio and Kamui Shio.

Trivia[]
