A secret technique of the Third Kazekage, in which microscopic particles of Iron Sand are dispersed into the air and ground.
Overview[]
By forming an almost imperceptible magnetic barrier, Rei is able to monitor chakra fluctuations with incredible precision, detecting disturbances even across long distances. This method allows him not only to identify hidden or camouflaged shinobi, but also to distinguish individual chakra signatures based on how their frequencies interfere with the surrounding magnetic field. It is said that Rei could “sense lies” by observing how chakra reacted to the magnetic pressure of the Iron Sand, and could also detect disruptions in natural patterns, indicating genjutsu or concealment seals. This fusion of sensory ability and magnetic manipulation made Rei nearly impossible to catch off guard.
Drawbacks[]
Although Rei’s technique is known for its exceptional precision, it has a highly technical vulnerability: its effectiveness relies on chakra disturbances within naturally occurring magnetic fields generated by dispersed iron particles. In other words, any foreign chakra that disrupts or resonates within that field becomes instantly detectable.
However, despite being an extremely complicated process, it is possible to trick this through a complex process. aligning the user's chakra flow with the ambient magnetic field, neutralizing the energetic interference that would normally betray their presence. Instead of clashing with the magnetic field, their chakra “rides along” with it, like a fish swimming with the current—becoming indistinguishable from the natural background. To Rei’s magnetic perception, this chakra appears nonexistent or blends so seamlessly that it evades recognition. Some shinobi with advanced Lightning Release control can also emit brief, low-intensity electromagnetic pulses to scramble their chakra signature for a few seconds—just enough to cross the detection radius unnoticed. Even tough, Rei may still detect suspicious “zones of silence” if he is specifically monitoring anomalies in the field.
After studying Rei's abilities extensively, Sasori used two human puppets with access to Lightning Release to go unnoticed by the Kazekage's technique.
