Mina Shunsoku (俊足ミナ, Shunsoku Mina) was a kunoichi in Uzushiogakure from who married Toshirō Shunsoku, leader of the Shunsoku clan. She was one of the few survivors from the complete destruction of the village and the complete massacre of the Shunsoku clan except her husband. Alongside Kushina Uzumaki and Toshirō, they moved to Konohagakure where she became a housewife before their son was born, raising him in the outskirts of the village next to the Uchiha District. After the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox’s Attack and the death of her friend Kushina and her husband, Toshirō and her adopted Naruto Uzumaki and raised him alongside their son as Toshirō promised. Years later, on the night of the Uchiha clan’s massacre, Mina died protecting a young Naruto from a masked man claiming to be “Madara Uchiha”. Before her death, she asked Shindō to protect Naruto.
Personality[]
As a shinobi, Mina was calm, disciplined, and level-headed in battle, and able to think and react quickly. She was ruthless towards her enemies, earning her the moniker of the Ironwoman (鉄の女, Tetsu no on’na) and was invaluable on the battlefield. She followed an ideal she called “harmony” (和, wa) and would pass it down to Shindō, never hesitating to kill those who threaten her and those she cared about. As a housewife, her killing tendencies have mellowed out a bit, but her killing intent was powerful enough to freeze everyone, including the Third Hokage.
Mina was a very kind and gentle woman but could also be strict and disciplinary, especially to those who crossed her—for instance, disrespecting her or those she loved and incurring her wrath. When giving off her killing intent, her composure remains calm and gentle, making her even scarier than Kushina Uzumaki or Tsunade Senju. When she helped Shindō or Naruto out with their shinobi training, she expressed joy when they both wanted to be a shinobi to protect each other, their friends, and family.
On the night of the Uchiha Massacre, after protecting Naruto from the the masked man, her final thoughts were for Shindō and Naruto to stay on the path of light and heroism, not darkness and revenge.
Appearance[]
Mina was a beautiful woman with long black hair, tanned skin, and onyx-colored eyes with small creases below them which became more prominent when giving a stern look (the latter of which her son Shindō inherited from her). She typically wore a simple blue blouse with red floral-like patterns, usually with a white apron donned over it, a black ankle-length skirt, and was mostly barefoot at home. When traveling outside the house, she did not wear said apron and a pair of black shinobi sandals.
Before she was married to Toshirō and moved to Konoha during the Second Shinobi World War, Mina donned segmented plate armor covering her shoulders, breasts, stomach, back, sides, and thighs. She also had matching gauntlets and shin guards, along with a black belt with a pouch and her sword Gurasukattā attached. While training her son, she donned her armor to inspire and teach him her unique fighting style.
Abilities[]
Mina was a kenjutsu master at a young age and earned the respect and infatuation of Toshirō Shunsoku who already awakened and mastered his Rōtasumāku. She was a prodigy with the sword, forging one of her own at a young age that she named Gurasukattā. By the time she was an adult, she met Toshirō and dueled him to a draw until he used his Rōtasumāku to defeat her, making her yield and she would eventually fall in love with him after sparring with him several more times over ten years.
