When discussing Minegumo, it is worth noticing that his astrological sign is that of the Scorpio: tenacity, loyalty, and honesty are among his most positive personality traits, while stubbornness, envy, and a tendency to hold grudges are his most negative. In everything he does, he is very meticulous: often to the point of obsession or overbearing. As many have noted, Minegumo is very emotional; passionate and sensitive, he feels deeply and takes most everything to heart. He cares far more than he wants others to know, and goes to great lengths to cover it up with a persona of being casual. As a result, Minegumo is well known among his peers and relatives alike neurotic heir of the Kurama Clan.
At a first glance, Minegumo often comes off as a laid-back delinquent; very easy going, uncaring of the rules, and seemingly fine with simply going through life shooting the breeze. However, this persona is but an act. In truth, he tends to like to have control and influence over things, be it his regular day-to-day life, his life as a Genin, or just as a part of group. To an extent, he is fine with, and even enjoys a regular routine, seeing them as balancing and even helping him to find harmony. However, the flip side to this is that he greatly territorial of the people he cares for: behaving aggressive toward outsiders and singling them out with the full brunt of his loathing. As well as this, he is very disdainful of those who come off as or act self-righteous, treating them with attitudes that range from indifference at best, and derisive and venomous at his worst.
This is, perhaps, best shown in his dynamic with his teammates in Team Arata. Having grown up alongside Raishin, Minegumo didn't hesitate to team up with him to take down Hikari during their bell-test, and was only willing to fight alongside the kunoichi after realizing that she could help him pass the test. After apologizing that very evening, he grew close to her over the course of two months. The story would once again repeat itself with the addition of Chikara Hyūga to their roster: Minegumo singling the other boy as an "interloper who didn't belong" and making no secret of his negative feelings.
That said, for all of his delinquent and antisocial behavior, Minegumo does have his shining qualities. As mentioned he cares very deeply for those he holds near and dear to his heart, and goes above and beyond for them. He unhesitatingly jumps to the defense of his loved ones no matter the situation or consequence, and shows a rare gentle or nurturing side in regards to their emotional needs. Going along with this, he is also possesses a rather analytical mind: constantly studying and analyzing the world around him, looking for weaknesses or anything that can be used for an advantage. As a Kinesthetic-type learner, he is at his best when moving and experimenting; if he does not get something right the first time, he easily perfects it the next time around.
