Twelve years before the start of the series, the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox attacked Konoha, destroying much of the village and taking so many lives. The leader of the village, the Fourth Hokage, sacrificed his life to seal the Nine-Tails inside Naruto Uzumaki. He was adopted and raised by the Shunsoku clan before losing them to a masked man. Still, the villagers shunned Naruto, who viewed him as the Nine-Tails itself out of fear and hatred for the demon fox. Though the Third Hokage outlawed speaking about anything related to the Nine-Tails, the children — taking their cues from their parents — inherited the same animosity towards Naruto. In his thirst for acknowledgment and hatred towards his father, Naruto vowed he would one day become the greatest Hokage the village had ever seen.

We are introduced to Danzō Shimura from Root and Kurotsuchi from Kentaro’s Assault Team. This arc is preceded by the Prologue—Land of Waves and followed by the Chūnin Exams.

This arc is preceded by the Ōizumi Village Crisis and followed by the Konoha Crush.

This is preceded by the Five Kage Summit and followed by the Birth of the Ten-Tails’ Jinchūriki.
Birth of the Ten-Tails’ Jinchūriki[]

This arc from Part II of the series reveals Tobi’s true identity, followed by Madara Uchiha and him becoming the Ten-Tails’ jinchūriki, respectively, fighting the Allied Shinobi Forces to enact their Eye of the Moon Plan, and the final battle between Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha at the Valley of the End. This arc is preceded by the Birth of the Ten-Tails’ Jinchūriki and followed by the conclusion of Naruto: A Shinobi Story.

Trivia[]
- Gaara died during the Kazekage Rescue Mission after Akatsuki extracted his tailed beast from inside him. He was, however, revived by Chiyo.
- In a similar manner, Fukasaku, Kakashi Hatake, Shizune Katō, and many other Konoha shinobi died during Pain’s Assault. They were, however, revived by Nagato’s Outer Path: Samsara of Heavenly Life Technique.
- After Naruto had Kurama extracted, he was revived by Tsunade Senju.
