The Nekobake Technique is the famous hiden technique of the Bakeneko clan that they developed by studying jinchūriki. It allows them to enter an empowered state by having their cat companion sealed inside them. It is often viewed as the cat variant of Sage Art: Amphibian Technique.
Training[]
Overview[]
Once the cat companion has sealed themselves inside their owner the owner gains cat ears and a cat tail that matches those of their feline friend. The cat that has sealed itself inside the owner is always drawing in natural energy much like a member of Jūgo's Clan, managing the natural energy to prevent their owner from turning into stone, and merging it with their owner's chakra to create senjutsu chakra. This in essence makes the cat act in a somewhat similar way to how tailed beasts do for jinchūriki. Instead of providing the host with massive chakra reserves, the cat grants the host 24/7 access to Senjutsu by supplying them with senjutsu chakra without the host needing to do a thing in terms of preparation. In addition bypassing the weaknesses present in Sage Mode and making Senjutsu as easy to use as Ninjutsu the technique gives the shinobi greatly augmented reflexes, agility, and cat-like senses. Their reflexes are augmented far more than the other two enhancements enabling enabling them to keep up with a user of Four Legs Technique even when the opponent is fighting alongside their ninken. Furthermore, unlike with Sage Transformation shinobi don't go berserk because of how their cat is helping them manage the natural energy.
This technique can in theory be used indefinitely so that family members always have the advantages present, but in practice how often a shinobi of the Bakeneko clan is in their Nekobake state depends on the preferences of their companion. Some practically live in their Nekobake form while others only use it during missions. Releasing their cat companion just takes the cat's corporation and a unique hand seal.
As a user grows more skilled with the technique the shinobi can use it to not just allow their cat to seal themselves, but also anything the cat is holding. This is typically used for the purpose of transporting cat toys in and out of the user's subconscious so that the cat has something to do when they don't need to deal with natural energy. Skilled users also gain the ability to telepathically communicate with their sealed cat at any time.
Drawbacks[]
This hiden technique has a few drawbacks. Firstly, so long as this technique is active a shinobi will need 12 to 16 hours of sleep instead of the normal 7 to 9 hours. It is a drawback that only owners who have a cat who prefer to be sealed have to deal with. Some shinobi just put up with it while others release their cat before bed so that the amount of sleep returns to normal. Secondly, if the cat has a toxoplasma gondii infection the owner will as well so long as the cat is sealed. What if any symptoms a shinobi experiences depends on what symptoms their feline friend has.
