Obito Uchiha (うちはオビト, Uchiha Obito) was one of the most significant antagonists of the entire series. He was a former chūnin-level shinobi from Konohagakure and a member of Team Minato. Following a tragic loss and his apparent death during the Third Shinobi World War, Obito took up the aliases “Madara Uchiha” (うちはマダラ, Uchiha Madara) and Tobi (トビ) and became an international criminal responsible for various felonies, including the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox’s attack on Konoha. He became the last leader of Akatsuki during the Fourth Shinobi World War, and one of the last living Uchiha.

Ninjutsu[]Obito learned from Madara how to perform a variety of several types of ninjutsu: he could create barrier ninjutsu, using the Fire Release: Uchiha Flame Formation from the Gunbai to protect the Demonic Statue;[18] he could sense chakra, allowing him to predict attacks and locate others from great distances, even in different dimensions,[19][20] and perform fūinjutsu. Nature Transformation[]Main article: Nature TransformationObito could utilize all five basic nature transformations along with Yin–Yang Release.[21] As an Uchiha, he had a natural aptitude for Fire Release techniques, and could perform the Great Fireball Technique at an early age.[22] The size and strength of his flames increased in his adulthood, and through a combination with his Mangekyō Sharingan he could perform Fire Release: Blast Wave Wild Dance.[23] He was also seen performing Earth Release techniques on occasion, though he exclusively did so to burrow and move underground, letting him augment the battlefield from below or sneak up on opponents. He can also use water clones and electrocute opponents with just a touch. Bukijutsu[] Obito ejects multiple shuriken from Kamui’s dimension. Dōjutsu[]Sharingan[]Main article: Sharingan Obito's Sharingan. Obito had several Sharingan in his possession which he kept in storage should he need them. He used one of these Sharingan to replace the one he gave to Kakashi, although he kept it covered with his mask most of the time. He later sacrifices this spare eye’s vision to perform Izanagi, which allows the user to manipulate events around them. Izanagi ordinarily lasts for only the briefest of moments, but with his access to Hashirama’s DNA he could maintain it for ten minutes using a single eye.[39] Mangekyō Sharingan[]Main article: Mangekyō Sharingan Obito’s Mangekyō Sharingan. Obito with his Six Paths of Pain. Intelligence[]From Madara, Obito learned much about the world, individual people in it, and different abilities from throughout history. As such, it was difficult to surprise him in combat because he already knew tactics ninja from certain villages are likely to use, what weaknesses to take advantage of in different opponents, and how to counter most jutsu.[50] On those infrequent occasions when he encountered something new, he calmly kept his distance and observed carefully until he devised the best approach to neutralizing it. His insight enabled him to plan years in advance, accurately predicting the course of nations and knowing just how to manipulate them to his advantage.[51] If any plan of his should fail for whatever reason, he could formulate a backup plan quickly and without being inconvenienced, proving tremendous strategic and tactical ingenuity. Indeed, Obito often kept multiple backup plans, rarely pinning his hopes on a single outcome. Obito also demonstrated high abilities in manipulation, able to see the darkness in others and twist them to his own purposes with a clever mixture of truth and lies. As Tsunade noted, by taking on the identity of the infamous Madara Uchiha, Obito was able to command the influence that came with it, such as the entire world taking his simple declaration of the Fourth Shinobi World War seriously. |
