Raikō Shunsoku (俊足ライコウ, Shunsoku Raikō) was a shinobi in the Warring States Period who directly descended from Asura Ōtsutsuki, i.e. the Sage of the Six Paths. He was the progenitor of the legendary Shunsoku clan who began writing the Sacred Scrolls to pass down his wisdom to his descendants. Before becoming a shinobi, he was a devout disciple of Ninshū, earning the moniker Raikō the Great Disciple (ライコウ大弟子, Raikō Daideshi). After discovering his divine heritage and awakening a kekkei genkai called the Rōtasumāku, enabling him to stand on equal footing with all the tailed beasts by himself.
Raikō has been revered for the power of his unique bloodline, near-unrivaled Lightning Release techniques, and Thunder Dance alongside with mastering the Treasured Tools of the Six Paths as under the moniker Raikō of the Thunder (雷のライコウ, Kaminari no Raikō).
