The Raikage (雷影, Literally meaning: Lightning Shadow) is the Kage of Kumogakure, a title bestowed on the village's leader. The Raikage is generally regarded as the strongest shinobi in the village. There have been five Raikage in the village's history.
Overview[]
The Raikage position was created after the formation of Kumo by A, the village's founder, that in anime was the second of the five Kage to emerge,[1][2] How the Raikage is selected is not clear; the Second was appointed for his long service and dedication as the bodyguard of the First Raikage[3] and after the Third died, his son automatically became Fourth Raikage, a decision made many years earlier. Generally, the Raikage is known for its strong desire to protect the village and its inhabitants as well as for its pride. The Raikage works inside a central blue structure inside Kumogakure.
Throughout Kumo’s history, the first four Raikage each had the given name A (エー, Ē, Viz: Ei). Each A had a tag-team partner named “B” (ビー, Bī), who was responsible for defending the Raikage and bringing out the Raikage's full power.[4]

A (エー, Ē, Viz: Ei) was the First Raikage (初代雷影, Shodai Raikage, Literally meaning: First or Founding Lightning Shadow) who founded Kumogakure in the Land of Lightning.
Second Raikage[]

A (エー, Ē, Viz: Ei) was the Second Raikage (二代目雷影, Nidaime Raikage, Literally meaning: Second Lightning Shadow) of Kumogakure. Throughout his reign he worked hard towards building peace between the other hidden villages.
Third Raikage[]

A (エー, Ē, Viz: Ei) was the Third Raikage (三代目雷影, Sandaime Raikage, lit meaning-Third Lightning Shadow) of Kumogakure, renowned to be the greatest Raikage the village has ever had.[5]

A (エー, Ē, Viz: Ei) was the Fourth Raikage (四代目雷影, Yondaime Raikage, Literally meaning: Fourth Lightning Shadow) of Kumogakure. He was the leader of the Allied Shinobi Forces to fight against the Akatsuki in the Fourth Shinobi World War.
Fifth Raikage[]

Darui (ダルイ) is a shinobi of Kumogakure and the right-hand-man of the Fourth Raikage,[6] whom he later succeeds as the Fifth Raikage (五代目雷影, Godaime Raikage, Literally meaning: Fifth Lightning Shadow).
