'Root (根; lit meaning "Foundation") were a group founded approximately a century ago by Danzō Shimura, a ninja who lived the philosophy of working in the shadows. Since their creation, they have been recognized for their underhanded tactics and dark operations, but each done so for the well being of Konoha. Assassins capable of starting wars, massacring entire villages, destroying political systems, etc. Tales of their arrival onto the battlefield caused enemy shinobi to retreat echoed throughout the lands. In the eyes of the public, Danzo's death resulted in the end of the organization, but it didn't disappear. Years later, Shikaniku Nara would assume the head of Konoha's dark organization and restore its influence over the world.
