Ryun Mazuka (リュンマズカ, Mazuka Ryun) is the title character, and main protagonist of all of Ten Tailed Fox's stories. He is a Missing-nin from Yamagakure. He also is a former member of the Fourth Relief Platoon and a current member of Koukon. Due to his reputation as a war hero in early battles in the Fifth Great Shinobi War, he is called Yamamori (山守, Guardian of a Mountain) by those who knew him. It is later revealed that he is the jinchuriki of the Four-Tailed Monkey, who's chakra mixes well with his cousin's chakra.

Appearance

Ryun appears like a typical teenage boy, tall and muscular. He has long, wavy sapphire hair and matching blue eyes. His outfit consists of a black, sleeveless shirt, a long gray coat wrapped around his neck and worn as a cape, a pair of gray cargo pants, and black shinobi boots with gray wrappings around them. He also wears black gloves, with wrappings similar to the ones on his boots under his right glove.

Personality

He is a carefree guy, who's personality seems to attract many. He is very warm towards his friends and family alike. Ryun is shown to have a compassionate, yet serious attitude when it comes to friends and family. He keeps most painful and conflicting thoughts inside, so he can "keep others from worrying about him". Although this method causes him to suffer more than he should. His closest friends, such as his cousin, can see right through this and are often his closest confidants. He also tends to worry about those close to him, even when they are completely okay.

Whenever angered or in combat, Ryun is fairly calm, serious, and level-headed. In battle he has shown himself to have a calm, collected manner, analyzing his opponent's moves and properly choosing how to counter them. He is shown to keep this demeanor until he begins winning by a large margin. He is then shown to become rather cocky, even going so far as to taunt and belittle his opponents. He often lets enemies know that he is proud of his power, as he has worked very hard for it.

Background

Ryun fought briefly in the Fifth Great Shinobi War, along with the Fourth Relief Platoon, his teammates. A young Chunin at the time, Ryun grew and experienced much pain with close friends dying in fierce battles, sometimes right before his eyes. However, during the course of the war, he became close to his cousin, Tora Mazuka, and the two became close confidants. In the last days of the war, Tora went missing during the invasion of Kirigakure. Upon return to Yamagakure, Ryun went to Gokuto Tsurugi to help stage a search operation, to which, the Kage refused due to lack of shinobi warriors due to fatalities in the war, and lack of funds. Enraged by the refusal to save his family member and best friend, Ryun left the village without warning. It was at this time that Ryun awakened the Taifugan and Chuto Taifugan kekkai genkai of his clan, the Mazuka. To date Ryun is wanted dead by the officials of Yamagakure, for many reasons. One he has the rare Kekkai Genkai of the village's most powerful clans, and thus they do not want it's secrets uncovered. Secondly, they view him as a traitor of war, and therefore, is to be eliminated, though his former teammates are attempting to bring him back alive. Ryun is now on the hunt for his cousin.

Synopsis

Hunting for Answers arc

Ryun begins enacting his master plan in Konoha, where is encountered by Takatsuke Uzumaki. His Tenjokai Path, immediately summons the Giant Six-Horned Bull[1] which begins a barrage of punches and menacing balls[2] on the young Konoha genin. Shortly after the Aruku Path joins in, Takatsuke attacks with his Golden Rasengan after revealing a golden chakra cloak. The Aruku path manages to absorb the golden attack, but asks how it is made, as he has never come across such a technique before.[3] Takatsuke, though weak, explains he doesn't know the nature of the chakra himself and then asks the paths why they are attacking the Leaf Village. Using the Tenjokai Path, Ryun introduces himself and explains that his plans involve the capture of rare and powerful chakras, though he isn't too specific on what he means by that. He implies that he was after the menacing chakra of the Nine-Tailed Fox[4], but is now intrigued in Takatsuke's chakra.

Ryun then tells Takatsuke to fight his hardest, and then Tenjokai path summons the Chimera. Takatsuke also summons a giant fox, and the two resume their battle. After a heated summons battle, Takatsuke begins trying to find Ryun's real body, but Zokujin uses Ishimiko to devastate the battlefield, halting Takatsuke's movement. Meanwhile, at the real body's location, Sasuke Uchiha, the leader of Koukon, appears and tells Ryun to let Takatsuke come to them.[5] Ryun then disengages the paths, allowing Takatsuke to move freely to their location. During the talk, Ryun reveals his plan to create the Eleven-Tails with the chakra he gathers and that he plans to use it to crush Kirigakure and end the current war. Soon Kitsunekamen appears and Sasuke and the former do battle. The battle ends in a stalemate, in which Ryun is left exhausted. Sasuke picks Ryun up and the two flee into the woods.[6]

Serpent Mode Training arc

After walking for a short few miles, Ryun awakens and begins to badger Sasuke about continuing his training. After telling Sasuke he no longer wishes to use his Four Paths of Ryun jutsu, Sasuke decides to train him.[7] However, their plans are interrupted by Shirokaze Fuyutama and Doriyaku Fuyutama's arrival. After brief introductions, the newcomers decide to help Ryun train. They seal snake chakra within his body and then begin to fight him. After his Serpent Mode awakens, Sasuke decides that phase two of the training will take place while they look for a man who can further their goals, whom Ryun recognizes as Killer Bee.[8] They venture into the Land of Lightning, stopping in a cave on it's borders to to weather. It is there that Ryun got basics of Serpent Mode and jutsu creation down. They departed the next morning, meeting up with their contact, Akira Sarutobi, in an outskirt village. She bestowed them with information that she learned from none other than Raikage himself, who happened to be Bee, and said that they were to meet up with the Kage the next day.

The Four and Ten-Tails arc

With the two Fuyutama brothers off on a mission, the team heads off to report to Konoha. But not before encountering Hanmadang in the woods.[9] Ryun's battle is against Seireitou Kawahiru, which is a loosing battle at first. It is then that Ryun reveals his Jinchuriki-status, claiming that Seireitou is the fist other than Tora to see his Tailed Beast cloak. Ryun and Seireitou seem even, until Seireitou activates a genjutsu that even the combine efforts of the Ryun and the Four-Tails cannot diminish, but Ryun instead reverses the illusion, allowing the Four-Tails to get some answers out of Seireitou. Ryun ends the technique and goes to Tora's rescue. As the team regroups, Sasuke reverse summons them out of the area, to gather more information on Seireitou's group.

Abilities

It seems that Ryun is a very smart individual, even being able to defeat shinobi of the Jonin rank single-handedly, making him at least at Jonin level in terms of fighting capabilities, as well as being able to analyze and discern the nature of his opponent's abilities after seeing it been performed only once using only the purest of logic. It might be noted that in each of his previous battles, Ryun makes use of strategy and planning instead of outright battle tactics.

Coyote Summoning

Ryun was first taught how to use the Summoning Technique by Aoi. After allowing Ryun to sign the Summoning Contract with the Coyotes, Aoi took Ryun through the execution of the technique in order to provide Ryun with allies in future battles. Additionally, Aoi's other motivation to teaching Ryun how to summon, was in order to help Ryun to realize, and take advantage of, his large chakra reserves. The type of coyotes that Ryun can summon at any time is proportional to his chakra and skill, as when he first started out he could only summon one.

Jinchuriki & Lava Release

Main article: Ryun's Jinchuriki Forms Ryun primarily relies on his mastery of Lava Release, of which he has a vast arsenal due to his Tailed Beast, the Four-Tails. With this arsenal, he can attack or defend against his opponents in numerous manners. In addition, he has proven to be very adept in taijutsu, which, combined with his impressive speed and his jinchuriki forms, allows him to effectively catch his opponents off guard and evade attacks.

Ryun is one of the few jinchūriki that is able to fully control their tailed beast. Like other jinchūriki, Ryun has the ability to create a chakra cloak by drawing on part of his demon's power. He can then form this chakra into the form of two monkey horns, and use them to attack the enemy; Or he can partially transform into his tailed beast and do the same. This attack has incredible speed and power, but the linearity of his movements makes him easier to predict by dojutsu such as Sharingan and maybe Rinnegan. Because he has a strong relationship with his own tailed beast, it acts as his partner in battle, disturbing his chakra to dispel even genjutsu.

Like his his cousin, Tora Mazuka, Ryun is able to become his tailed beast itself with great ease. Also like Tora, he can retain complete control even in this fully released state, and partially transform parts of his chakra shroud into parts of the Four-Tails body. When he fully transforms, he can easily and repeatedly fire massive chakra blasts many times the size of its already giant body.
