The Sacred Scrolls (神聖巻物, Shinsei Makimono), also called the Shunsoku Clan Scrolls (俊足一族巻物, Shunsoku Ichizoku Makimono) or simply the Shunsoku Scrolls (俊足族巻物, Shunsoku-zoku Makimono), are a collection of currently five colored scrolls containing all the abilities and history of the Shunsoku clan, written by clan heads during their respective generation. Because each clan member can live for over a hundred years, each scroll is written by the clan leader of a specific generation. Each scroll certain information about a clan leader’s life and combat skills including ninjutsu, taijutsu, weaponry, (life) experience, and ideology.

The scrolls also teach the reader everything about the clan’s two sacred Rōtasumāku and how to master them, along with every technique each kekkei genkai grants the user. Only members of the Shunsoku clan can read the text of the scrolls as they are spoken in code, but once a male clan member awakens his Rōtasugan, he can read and learn the information within the scroll. Shindō Shunsoku is the current and sole owner of the scrolls, each of them having a specific color associated with a particular era and clan head. He is currently writing the sixth scroll to add to the rest, in the hopes of passing down some knowledge and wisdom to the next generation as his ancestors did.

Appearance[]

Each scroll has the kanji for the word for “Great” (大, Dai) followed by whatever title the individual clan leader earned within their lifetime. For example, the first scroll written by Raikō and whose chakra transformation so he named it a Great Thunder Light (大雷光, Dairaikō). Each scroll has this pattern of titles followed by elements and is in different colors as the Shunsoku clan was strict on order and pattern progression and were inspired by the rainbow. So, each time a clan leader had to write his own Sacred Scroll for future generations, he would use the next color of the rainbow to better identify or stand out from the rest.

Scrolls[]

  1. Great Thunder Light (大雷光, Dairaikō):
  2. Large Bearer (大ベアラー, Daibearā):
  3. Big Campaign (大運動, Daiundō):
  4. Great Manifestation (大顕示, Daikenji):
  5. Great New Life (大新生活, Daishin Seikatsu):

Trivia[]

  • The Shunsoku clan’s Sacred Scrolls were based on the Stone Monument and Treasured Tools of the Sage of the Six Paths, respectively. The Stone Tablet provided an idea of the earliest ancestor passing down his knowledge and power to his descendants while Hagoromo’s Treasured Tools made for a unique idea of each scroll having a separate but chronological story about the Shunsoku clan and their connection to the Sage of the Six Paths with how Hagoromo had great foresight in passing down selective individuals to carry on his legacy before his death.
