Sakura Uchiha (うちはサクラ, Uchiha Sakura, néeHaruno (春野)) is a jōnin of Konohagakure, and a prodigious medical-nin, trained personally by the Legendary Sannin, Tsunade. She is currently the head of the Konoha Medical Department. After marrying Sasuke Uchiha, she became a member of the Uchiha clan, and both have a daughter named Sarada.
In her early years within Konoha's Ninja Academy, she was picked on for the size of her forehead. She would overcome this with the help of Ino Yamanaka who defended her and helped her gain confidence. Despite them establishing a friendship, the two would go on to become rivals due to their crush on Sasuke Uchiha. The two would eventually make up after their match during the Chūnin Exams.
When she became a genin, she was placed on Team 7 with Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke, led by Kakashi Hatake. During her early time as a member of Team 7, despite her high intellect in the ninja studies, she was much more worried about her appearance and gaining Sasuke's affection than honing her ninja skills. However, upon noticing that she leaned heavily on her teammates, she decided to put more effort into becoming a more capable ninja. She would eventually ask Tsunade to be her apprentice, which the latter accepted. This training allowed her to become a promising medical-nin and be compared to her master, as well as someone who would eventually surpass her.
Sakura while generally kind overall, she could be very insensitive, such as when she chatized Naruto to Sasuke about not knowing how to behave due to not being raised by parents, despite Sasuke having been made an orphan by the slaugher of his entire clan. She would eventually come to admire Naruto for his "ninja way" and become more compassionate to him, although she would still on occasion berate him for his immaturity.

Sakura proved to have an aptitude for chakra control even as a genin, being the only member of Team 7 to successfully pass the Tree Climbing Practice (on her first try). She showed high intelligence as well, able to easily answer the written test of the Chūnin Exams, something most of the participants were unable to do, as well discern and dispel a high-rank genjutsu used by Kabuto Yakushi.
