Shōgetsu Hōzuki (鬼灯詛月, Hōzuki Shōgetsu) is the former head of the Hōzuki clan, one of the former Hunter-nin captains of the international police force and the older brother of Mētsuki Hōzuki. After derailing from Kiri's new principals, committing numerous menacing and vile acts, in the name of his profession, Shōgetsu was branded as a criminal. However, this was an orchestrated act by Sixth Mizukage to be rid of a potential new threat that was backboned by Kiri's clans. He's currently imprisoned in an isolated chamber to restrain him within the walls of the Hōzuki Castle.

In Kiri's Bingo Book, Shōgetsu's code name was revealed to be Kyūketsuki (吸血鬼, Vampire) and rated him as a S-rank shinobi. But what is least known about Shōgetsu is that he's nearly blind since he was born, which speaks volume about his prowess and capabilities.

Trivia

  • The first part of his name uses the kanji 詛 (cursed), which is taken from norou (のろう) meaning to put a curse on. Following the clan's tradition, his full name would roughly translate to: "a demon lantern cursed by the moon".
