Shiba (シバ) was a Shinobi from Kusagakure.
Background[]
Shiba participated in the Chūnin Exams in Part I. During the Forest of Death portion of the exam, he and his team encountered Team Guy where he battled Neji Hyūga. The Hyūga defeated him using his Eight Trigrams Palms Revolving Heaven and Gentle Fist, stealing his team’s scroll. Because this happened on during fifth day, Shiba and his team failed the exam; however, Shiba’s battle with the Hyūga prodigy created an obsession over their power. He intended to covet the power for himself one day and use it to overthrow Akihiko Kusano and take over Kusagakure, making the hidden village stronger than the Five Great Shinobi Countries.
Personality[]
Shiba was overconfident in his abilities, bloodthirsty, and obsessive over the Byakugan after fighting Neji during the Chūnin Exams. In fact, it would be his arrogance that would be his downfall in the hands of Hinata Hyūga. He expressed excitement when fighting Hinata, thinking he could kill her and covet the power of the Hyūga clan for himself. He hoped to become strong enough to kill Akihiko Kusano and take over Kusagakure as Village Head, believing that Kusa needed a stronger leader to become the stronger than any of the Five Great Shinobi Countries.
Appearance[]
Shiba had cheek length brown hair and his bangs hung out just under his forehead protector. He had dark-colored eyes. He wore a bandanna-styled Kusagakure forehead protector which was black and tied in the back.
Abilities[]
Shiba is a very skilled shinobi with an affinity for Wind Release and uses wire strings for a variety of purposes, even incorporating it with tornados he generates which can devastate the surrounding landscape. He is also excellent in taijutsu as he avoided Hinata’s Gentle Fist for most of their fight, having experienced it from Neji.
Intelligence[]
Shiba had comprehensive knowledge in the Hyūga clan’s Gentle Fist which enabled him to develop countermeasures against it like dodging at close-range and using long-range attacks that managed to injure the Hyūga. He also had a fundamental understanding between the five nature transformations as he deconstructed Hinata’s Lightning Release: Lightning Dragon Bullet Technique and used just enough wind chakra to protect himself against it. He also did the same to shield himself against her Electrocution Technique before counterattacking with his wires. He can use his wire strings in creative, tactical ways like launching his Wind Release: Vacuum Trap and then lacing his wire strings within each tornado for more devastating attacks that managed to injure Hinata despite using her Byakugan. He can also connect his wires with shuriken he throws to manipulate their trajectory and directions mid-flight for a more lethal effect.
