Shiinshiki Ōtsutsuki was a descendant of Hamura Ōtsutsuki and survivor of the Ōtsutsuki clan's branch family on the Moon. As the originator of all Sound-based Ninjutsu on Earth, his descendants the Shiin Clan, can gain access to his Sound Release Kekkei Genkai.
Background[]
Being born as a direct descendant of Hamura Ōtsutsuki into the Ōtsutsuki clan on the moon, Shiinshiki was instructed with the Celestial Degree to watch over humanity. Shiinshiki's eyes were sealed within the Energy Vessel at a young age as part of the clan's custom. In place of vision, he learned to see the world around him using sound created by the unique dojutsu on his forehead. His sensory ability allowed him to create the Ōtsutsuki Barrier Core.
Tenseigan Chakra Mode
In Ōtsutsuki Gaiden: Sound and Strength - A Requiem, Shiinshiki first weaponized the Energy Vessel in order to stop Tomoe Ōtsutsuki's invasion as a member of a competing branch family. He briefly attains Tenseigan Chakra Mode, but he was ultimately overwhelmed and defeated.
Shiinshiki on Earth
Shiinshiki arrives on earth, barely clinging to life after his defeat at the hands of Tomoe Ōtsutsuki. His broken body came to rest on Mount Myōboku, where the wise toads took him in and nursed him back to health. Among them, a toad Gamangaku revealed to Shiinshiki the dark truths of his own clan—their ruthless pursuit of power, their ritualistic sacrifices to the God Tree, and the cycle of destruction they perpetuated across worlds. In return for this knowledge, Shiinshiki made a pact with the toads, sharing with them the secrets of sound-based techniques, a power long guarded by his lineage.
Shiinshiki lived the remainder of his life on Earth. After his death, the once-unified clan fractured, torn apart by greed, ambition, and conflicting ideologies. Two opposing factions emerged, each claiming to be the true inheritors of his legacy. The Keepers of Shiin’s Will devoted themselves to preserving the sacred instruments, believing them to be relics of immense power that must be safeguarded and kept out of unworthy hands. To them, the instruments were sacred artifacts, never to be used for personal gain or reckless ambition.
Opposing them stood The Followers of Shiin, a zealous sect who saw the instruments not as relics to be hidden away, but as divine tools meant to fulfill an ancient, unwritten prophecy. They sought to harness their power, convinced that doing so would lead to the ascension of a new era—one where their dominion would be absolute. To them, the instruments were the key to realizing Shiinshiki’s unfinished will, whatever the cost.
Legacy[]
Shiinshiki's Shrine
Shiinshiki's sound-based genjutsu continued to echo through the toads of Mount Myōboku. His body was buried at the Shiinshiki Shrine in the Land of Sound. Shiinshiki's bloodline persisted, with many of his descendants settling around the region where Orochimaru would later establish Otogakure.

Shiinshiki had a great deal of loyalty towards the teachings of Hamura and humanity. He was determined to protect his people.
Appearance[]

Shiinshiki's full appearance bore the telltale features of the Ōtsutsuki clan, including pale skin, and long, curving horn which grew from his brows and wrapped around behind his ears. In his old age, his appearance was very frail, his ribcage was slightly visible, his brows became more prominent, and he had deep wrinkles in his face and his once white hair had turned grey. He wore a white kimono with a black wide collar ceremonial kimono, with a black sash tied over his right shoulder.

Ninjutsu[]
Shiinshiki's Time space
Shiinshiki uses Space–Time Ninjutsu, able to tap what appears to be his personal dimension. He could quickly pass through his timespace in order to transport himself to a destination. Like the other members of his clan, Shiinshiki could fly at high speed. Utilising Yin Release, he could communicate with others using genjutsu. He had some knowledge in fūinjutsu, able to seal foes into his drum. At the cost of much chakra, Shiinshiki could use space–time ninjutsu to transport himself and others between the dimension. Shiinshiki's Time space is a dimension of mountains and constant white noise.

As a direct descendant of Hamura, Shiinshiki was born with remarkable reserves of equally powerful chakra. His chakra glows as an array of spectral colors, much like a rainbow. It distorts, flickers, and makes a distinct "wind chime" like sound. Shiinshiki also showed noticeable proficiency in taijutsu. He was capable of transcending time well after his death to talk with others and likewise bestow power to them, using his chakra to manifest his form even centuries after his death.
Tenseigan Chakra Mode[]

Upon activating his Tenseigan Chakra Mode, Shiinshiki can manifest nine Truth-Seeking Balls, granting him all five nature transformations as well as Yin, Yang, and Yin–Yang Release. He can use the balls both offensively and defensively, and attacks by infusing them with his chakra, causing them to glow in an array of colors. He can rapidly spin them to create a massive sound vortex and combine them into a staff of chakra powerful enough to cut the entire moon in half. With the power he received from Hamura, Shiinshiki gains a masterful grasp of chakra and the ability to comprehend all universal things. His sensing ability also rises to the point where he can sense and thus react to the invisible shadows in the world of Limbo.

As an Ōtsutsuki, Shiinshiki could impart a Kāma onto individuals. This seal, being a compressed backup file of Shiinshiki's biological data, grants the host his powers and techniques, including a huge boost in physical abilities and chakra levels, as well as the ability to absorb chakra. Shiinshiki's Kāma is passed down through members of the Shiin Clan born with the Sound Release Kekkei Genkai and can harmonize with his Treasured Instruments.

While born with the Byakugan, like the rest of his clan, his eyes were later sealed away within the Energy Vessel, leaving Shiinshiki blind.
Puppet Technique[]
Shiinshiki possessed advanced control over puppets, utilizing their superior chakra and technology to create formidable constructs. These puppets were constructed from advanced alloys and chakra-reactive materials, making them highly durable and resistant to conventional attacks. Their hidden mechanisms included retractable chakra blades, projectile launchers that fired energy-based attacks, and intricate sealing mechanisms capable of trapping opponents. Some were even equipped with absorption technology, allowing them to nullify ninjutsu and redirect energy-based techniques.
