Shindō Tantō (振動短刀), literally meaning "Vibrating Sword", refers to a special Katana utilized by Arikurin Shiin.
Background[]
This weapon was created by Ōdachi Ashina of Ashina Village. The blade is held in a metal scabbard with open holes. The metal scabbard produces sound when a stream of air is directed through it and creates vibrations of air at the holes, producing a sound. The user changes the pitch of the sound produced by covering and uncovering holes , thus changing the effective length of the resonator and its corresponding resonant frequency.

Arikurin infuses chakra into his blade
The blade is forged from a rare chakra-conducting metal, allowing it to channel the user's energy with ease. When infused with chakra, the blade emits a radiant glow, taking on the distinct color of its wielder’s chakra nature. The steel has a faint, wave-like hamon pattern, symbolizing the flowing nature of sound. When infused with chakra, the blade vibrates subtly, producing a barely audible hum.
By infusing his chakra into the blade, Arikurin can manipulate sound and ultrasonic waves to reshape it into various rudimentary weapons. This ability allows the blade to extend beyond its natural dimensions, forming constructs such as hammers, spiked shafts, and axes. With this versatility, This allows for enhanced striking power, and the element of surprise in combat.

The scabbard is made of reinforced black metal with evenly spaced open holes along its length. These holes function as a flute when air passes through them. When wielding his drawn sword and his scabbard in the opposite hand, Arikurin can fight in the ambidextrous nature of dual-blade combat. It is durable enough to clash with a kunai unharmed and sword unharmed. With the scabbard, the user can also cast and break Genjutsu.
