One the appropriate hand sign are done a seal inscribed with the kanji for moon will appear on Ryoji palms surrounded by a purple aura around his hands. This allows him to absorb an opponent’s chakra which can be either used as a mean to counter attack or can be stored up for later use. It seems that the stored up energy can be released in the form of a blast wave from Ryoji’s hands. In order for Ryoji to absorb chakra he needs to make physical contact with the opponent. Once the technique is activated Ryoji can not only absorb an opponents chakra but can also absorb energy based attacks, depending on the power of the attack, he can absorb low level based techniques but high level techniques are difficult to absorb since high level jutsu have a possibility of causing side effects such as injuring his hands or cause extreme pain to his body.
It is unknown if this technique is truly considered a jutsu or not. However, it is not considered a kekkei genkai ability either, since similar techniques have been performed by several people with no known relation. Ryoji describes it as an unholy ability but never goes into detail about it. This version of the jutsu is unique to Ryoji himself.
