The Special Investigative Task Force is a branch of the Sunagakure Anbu under the direct control of the Kazekage.
Overview[]
The Special Investigative Task Force carries out missions both foreign and domestic — specifically in regards to murder, corruption, kidnapping, and assassination. All shinobi employed by the task force are at least Jōnin-level and are among the village's elite. Shinobi within the task force are paired in teams of two, rather than the more conventional three, and work in secrecy: their missions are never a matter of public affairs and even the village's regular jōnin are unable to access information on their assignments.
Members are chosen for the task force based on their mission success rate and their combat proficiency. Due to the sometimes shady nature of their work, shinobi lacking a flashy fighting style are preferred so as not to draw attention when they do have to fight. Shinobi within the task force are occasionally assigned a code name to conceal their identities while on missions. Aside from that, attire and choice of weapons are entirely their own, though members have occasionally been seen to wear cloaks and a mask.
