The user summons a pack of ninken underground and use their superior sense of smell to track the target, converge on their location, and then all together burst from the ground and take hold with their fangs. With the target captured in this way, the summoner can easily locate them and finish them off. This technique is especially useful when tracking down an opponent that the user is unable to find, such as in a thick mist.
Alternatively, the user can allow an opponent to injure them with a bladed weapon in order for their ninken to track the latter through the smell of blood. This would guarantee the success of tracking down the opponent.
Trivia[]
In Naruto: Ultimate Ninja, Kakashi's second special move is a variation of this technique in which Bull bursts out of the ground and strikes the enemy with a double bladed sword which he holds in his mouth.
In Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Heroes, Kakashi can use a variant of this technique. Kakashi knocks the opponent unconscious and performs hand seals, finally slamming his hand on the ground. From the ground Bull jumps out and hold the opponent firmly. Then Kakashi himself strikes the opponent several times with a kunai, before kicking the victim away.
