Suzuya Shikinami (四季波 涼夜, Shikinami Suzuya) is a recurring character in Diaries of the Hidden Waterfall, a long-form fanfiction by User:NejiHyuga2.
She is a member of the Shikinami Clan and an emigrant to Takigakure. She is one of the village's most well-respected tokubetsu jōnin, despite her extremely dangerous tendencies and she is the jōnin team leader of Team 18. She constantly emphasizes the idea of strong teamwork into her students and she is also more casually consulted for love problems by the young girls of the village. Due to the passive ability granted by her lineage resulting in her tendency to randomly go berserk, Suzuya is most well-known by the epithet of Witch of Destruction (破滅の魔女, Hametsu no Majo), a derogatory moniker given to her as a result of her monstrous constitution.
Background[]
Little is known about Suzuya's early life prior to emigrating to Takigakure including any details on her relatives, if she ever had any; Suzuya herself refuses to disclose any details of herself outside of the fact that she had a mother and a father who originated from somewhere in the Land of Demons. As such, she is aware of the circumstances of the Onigawara clan. She was a victim of a human trafficking, however, she managed to escape from her captors and flee across the continent. She wandered through multiple countries including the Land of Lightning, the Land of Frost, and the Land of Hot Water before arriving in the Land of Waterfalls. There, she had a chance encounter with Jukan Nara with whom she fell in love with at first sight. She followed Jukan around much to his chagrin, despite the latter's repeated warnings that he was on an infiltration mission; not even conflict was enough to get her to stop following him as both she and Jukan regularly fought each other.
Eventually, Jukan gave up and proceeded to enter Takigakure with Suzuya as his accomplice; Jukan's mission was to act as an intermediary between the Leaf and the Waterfall in order to further establish relations between the two villages after the Waterfall decided to lift its sakkoku government policy with the end of the Third Shinobi World War. Jukan, who was already a jōnin of Konohagakure, was given free entrance but Suzuya was barred entry despite being his accomplice; with some negotiation, Jukan managed to get permission for Suzuya to enter. Entering into the service of Takigakure, she would prove her strength and be made into a tokubetsu jōnin of the village. She would also be wed to Jukan, an event that was celebrated throughout the village much to Jukan's embarrassment, as Jukan's regular visits to the Academy would allow him to form an amiable relationship with Shigure Abura who would pull the strings for the joyous event. Suzuya is later chosen to lead a genin team composed of Minato Asuka, Shinji Natsukawa, and Mizakura Uzumaki.
Personality[]
Suzuya is generally a woman one can easily get along with. Despite her seeming to come off as exceedingly strict due to how tall and well-toned she is, she is actually an extremely soft woman who loves small animals, gossip, and romance. She is frequently seen reading romantic novels which she insists is something that helps reduce her tendency to go berserk. As a result, she is often looked up to by the young girls of the village as a master of love; ironically, Suzuya's only experience with love is her current unbreaking passion for Jukan Nara. However, Suzuya still tries to keep up the appearance that she is a love master and often gives sound advice by combining her own feminine intuition with what she has read in her novels; most girls who follow her advice are successful in their romantic endeavors which only serves to enhance the misunderstanding of Suzuya's romantic experience.
Due to the natural constitution of her clan, Suzuya has the tendency to go berserk. Since her body passively absorbs natural energy, the extra power can cause her to lose her consciousness. For Suzuya, she is among the rare few of the Shikinami clan who are capable of controlling their murderous impulses. Whenever Suzuya is incapable of reining in her urges, Jukan is always present to restrain her with his abilities; this is part of the reason why Suzuya had chosen Jukan as her partner and lover as no one else she had met in her travels were able to properly restrain her long enough for her to settle down.
Appearance[]
Suzuya is an extremely tall woman, towering above all of her students on Team 18 to the point that she had to kneel down to remain in the frame for their team picture. She is just fifteen centimeters shy of being two meters tall and has long silver hair. Her blue eyes are always hidden by her bangs until she properly fixes her hair. She usually wears the standard Takigakure shinobi uniform for jōnin, however, she is also seen wearing a specialized white bodysuit that covers her entire body; this was something she made on her own as a sort of "regulator" for slowly dissipating natural energy that her body absorbs in excess.
