Tannin (哮龍, Kōryū) are rare species that have only loyalty towards themselves . They have no natural habitat, instead they lay dormant beneath the world's oceans, nesting in remote locations. Tannin are naturally attuned to Fire and Water Releae ninjutsu, making them their standard chakra form. Due to their use of Fire Release, Tannin are considered by some to have been the one of the original Fire and Water Release users.

Overview

Most Tannin are known for their large size, the smallest adult being the size of a large house, the biggest almost the size of a small mountain. They're hide is immensely durable, and they're known for their fast swimming and their mixture of fire and water breathing, common to all Tannin. There are a few which can utilize more than there common Charka Natures.

Mature Tannin can speak Human language, like Gamabunta and Manda, as well as roars that carry over long distances to communicate with their own kind. Tannin are very long lived, though an exact lifespan has yet to be counted.

Tannin are long said to be extinct, since most were hunted and killed long ago for there scales which are said to hold the ability to resist most Fire and Water based techniques as well as Genjutsu techniques. 

One Tannin fought hard before its death with the help of a few ninja who where the founding people of the Kaitei Clan who happened to be crossing by. The Tannin grateful for the help grant the founders the last of their power by bestowing them with a few drops of it's blood thus creating the Suijamyaku.

There is only one remaining Tannin in the world and they live deep beneath the ocean waiting for it's day to awake again. This Tannin does not know that it's brethren power where given to a clan.
