Tasokare (黄昏, Karetaso) is a state of existence brought about by the coalescing of day and night into something that is not either. A reforming of two separate masses into one new whole. A method of harmonization that is neither simple nor painless, but remains worthwhile. It serves as the template by which Nodoka and her sword become one, forming the Phantom General (妖怪将軍, Yōkai Shōgun) that terrorizes the traditionalist North.

Overview[]

The most marked difference is the woman's appearance. Her hair becomes the color of a winter blizzard, her form slender and as sharp as the blade she wields. Nodoka's eyes are no longer a quiet, purple hue, instead a shade of blood-rose made all the more intimidating by her slitted, demonic pupils, a maelstrom of carnage swirling in their depths. Interestingly enough, the sword remains present in her hand, signifying the physical container is untouched: rather, the sentient "soul" forged from the blood of hundreds is transferred to the woman's body. Notably, the transformation is a blend of both Nodoka's stoicism and the Yorukaze's snap-happy temperament, creating a bluntness that is fitting for her job description.
