Team 7 was a Konohagakure team formed under the leadership of Kakashi Hatake. Two-and-a-half years after Sasuke Uchiha left the village, Kakashi filled out paperwork to form Team Kakashi, with his former pupils Naruto Uzumaki and Sakura Haruno now being treated as equals alongside their teacher, becoming chūnin in the process. Following Yamato Iburi and Shindō Shunsoku joining the team, the group went by Team Yamato during the former’s leadership.

Find the Lost Pet Tora[]

Team 7 was assigned to find Tora, a lost cat owned by Madam Shijimi.[3]
Escort the Bridge Builder[]
- Rank: C-rank
- Status: Success
Per Naruto’s request for a more challenging mission, Team 7 was assigned to escort Tazuna to the Land of Waves.[4] Along the way, they discovered that Tazuna had assassins after him and needed protection while he finished building a bridge. Tazuna did not have enough money to pay for bodyguard services, and so lied to Team 7 that he only needed escorts. Despite the difficulty of this assignment, Team 7 stayed by Tazuna’s side until the bridge was completed, successfully protecting him from Gatō and his men.
Provide Humanitarian Aid to Ōizumi Village[]

- Status Success
Team Kakashi was assigned as part of Konoha 13, alongside Teams Kurenai, Guy, and Asuma with Sasuke Uchiha as team leader and Shindō Shunsoku as second-in-command. The mission was to provide humanitarian aid to Ōizumi Village who suffered a landslide which crippled and almost cut the village off from the outside world. The mission was escalated to an A-rank upon discovering that a team sent by the Third Tsuchikage were responsible for all the landslides crippling the village to conquer it for Iwagakure’s future conquests. The mission was a success with Konoha preventing another war with Iwagakure.
Stop Gaara/Find Sasuke[]

During the Konoha Crush in Part I, Kakashi assigned Naruto, Sakura, Shikamaru, and Pakkun to find Sasuke and Gaara. This was stated to be the first A-rank mission since the Land of Waves.[5]
Rescue the Kazekage[]

At the start of Part II, Team Kakashi was sent to help Sunagakure rescue Gaara from Akatsuki. Sasori, one of the Akatsuki members, was killed during the mission, and Gaara was saved.
Meet Sasori’s Spy[]

- Status: Failure
Using information gained from Sasori, the new Team Kakashi (led by Yamato Iburi) went to Kusagakure to meet with a spy in Orochimaru’s ranks.[6] Upon infiltrating the hideout to retrieve Sasuke Uchiha, fight ensues and Sasuke leaves with Kabuto Yakushi and Orochimaru.

Following Naruto’s completion of the Wind Release: Rasenshuriken, Team Kakashi was sent to help Team Asuma fight Akatsuki members Hidan and Kakuzu.[7] Their combined efforts were enough to kill the latter.

- Kakashi notes that the original members of Team 7 share group dynamics like that to Team Minato. Even Team 7’s photograph is nearly identical to Team Minato’s.
- Aside from Kakashi, each original member of Team 7 was trained by one of the Sannin during the time skip: Naruto was trained by Jiraiya, Sasuke was trained by Orochimaru, and Sakura was trained by Tsunade Senju. As a result, they can also summon their respective master’s signature creatures: Naruto can summon toads, Sasuke can summon snakes, and Sakura can summon slugs.
- The members of Team 7 hold deep ties to the office of Hokage.
- Kakashi was the student of Minato Namikaze, who would become the Fourth Hokage.
