The Twelve Guardian Ninja (守護忍十二士, Shugonin Jūnishi, English TV: Guardian Shinobi Twelve, Literally meaning: Twelve Gentlemen Guardian Ninja) are the bodyguards of the Land of Fire's daimyō. Membership is indicated by the waistcloth they wear, marked with the kanji for "Fire" (火, Hi). Members are personally hand-picked by the daimyō to join the ranks.
History[]
The group are composed of twelve skilled ninja drawn from around the Land of Fire. Their only task was to protect the country's daimyō, even at the cost of their own lives. Rewards consist of money, promotions, or vacations, depending the rewardee's request.
