Yuna Hōtai (優心 包帯, "Gentle-Heart Bandages") is a female Nekozoku (half-human/half-cat) originally from the Land of Fruit. She specializes in using Bandages as an offensive tool, using Chakra Flow in order to manipulate them for her techniques; they're also used to increase her movement capabilities. Additionally, she possesses skill in Wind Release and often combines it with her bandages. She gained access to Spider Senjutsu abilities after she fled to the Silk Forest of Submission. She typically prefers to maintain a medium distance of engagement, but can fight well at all ranges.

Listen to Yuna's theme while reading.

Personality
Personality
  +
When Yuna was a child, she—like all the other children in her tribe—was always in high spirits, full of joy, love, and laughter. Without so much as a care in the world, she would go outside to play, making sure to return home before sunset. She always had enough to eat and her parents spoiled her with small presents and toys. She loved her mama and papa, as well as the other members of the tribe. She liked to listen to the elders when they told stories around the fire during the evening; the chief always had another battle to retell. Like all the other Nekozoku children, Yuna dreamed of adventure, hoping to one day live like the heroes in the stories the elders always told.
  +
  +
While in captivity under her first master, Yuna became a hollow shell of who she once was. The bright, innocent, smile she always wore was beaten out of her and she no longer craved for adventure; she only wanted to go home. Over the course of a few years, she became a miserable wreck and all lost of hope of freedom. As a result of the constant abuse from her husband—the same man who owned her—she reached her breaking point and eventually gave in to her fate. However, a small part of Yuna's psyche always resisted her husband, and she contemplated taking her own life many times in order to escape her living hell.
  +
  +
After several miscarriages at the hands of her cruel husband, Yuna was cast aside and exiled, forcing her to wander aimlessly for a time. It was then that Yuna met her mistress, Manjushage, who would also choose to enslave the young nekozoku. However, Yuna grew to care for her new mistress, as Manjushage seemed almost more maternal than strictly abusive. Indeed she was cruel, yet also nurturing and intelligent. During this period of time, Yuna's outlook on life improved and she grew more as a person, having been exposed to Manjushage's philosophies and political ideologies. Manjushage healed some of her wounds and taught her new jutsu, enabling her to "walk." As she had been blinded by the genuine good her mistress was capable of, she failed to realize how truly terrible and manipulative Manjushage was for several years. However, after a turn of events that led to Yuna betraying her mistress, she was once again subjected to unspeakable horrors. During this period of time, she lost herself again and eventually succumbed to the the hopelessness she had once faced before, although this time at the hands of her once-beloved mistress.
  +
  +
Due to intervention, Yuna found herself freed from the clutches of her former mistress, Manjushage. Now, Yuna travels the world with her companions and her best friend, Kenta. Since earning her freedom, she's once again undergone drastic changes to her personality, finding shame in her previous deeds and seeing herself as filthy, but also finding a sense of pride in her ability to endure and overcome her past.
  +
  +
Currently, Yuna suffers from Dysthymia, otherwise know as Persistent Depressive Disorder—or in some cases—Minor Depressive Disorder. She's often in a depressed mood, struggles with low self-esteem, and she even suffers from occasional insomnia and loss of appetite. She tries not to let it get her down, but the events of her life have permanently scarred her, thus, she thinks quite poorly of herself. Thankfully, Kenta is always there to cheer her up and raise her spirits, telling her that she doesn't have to be afraid anymore and that she shouldn't feel ashamed to show the scars and marks that cover her body, for each an every one is a symbol and message: A story of survival. He reassures her that she is strong and capable, even without the use of her legs, as she has gone through what few have experienced and came out alive, still able to make a difference and change the world for the better.
  +
  +
Due to her horrific past, Yuna's primary goal in life is to liberate all the slaves on the continent of Méihuā and to eventually put an end to the slave trade. She's a freedom-fighter and a champion for justice; a progressive figurehead for many minority groups across the continent. Even if she has to break the laws to bring about change, she keeps on fighting for those without voices and those too scared to rise up. As a result, she often resorts to less than legal means in order to see her ambitions through, finding no issue with blackmailing, extorting, thieving, or even killing those who get in her way, so long as she finds it beneficial for the greater good.
  +
  +
Politically, Yuna resonates best with communist ideologies, believing in absolute equality across the board with no exceptions. Surprisingly, she adopted these radical views during her time serving under Manjushage, as the matron's regime shared many characteristics with communism. Yuna sees the rich and powerful as the ones who stomp over others and enslave the powerless. As a result, she's typically cold and turned off by politicians and wealthy individuals, particularly those with large businesses. Even if they are genuinely good and charitable people, Yuna maintains a sense of distrust and loathing, seeing their charity as just another way to boost their power and status. If everyone was truly equal—if the classist system in place was abolished—systematic, widespread slavery wouldn't exist and the people would be free. ☭
  +
  +
Aside from the times when she's feeling down, Yuna is typically quite satirical and devious in that she—being a sadomasochist—enjoys the suffering of others and also finds personal degradation thrilling. She likes to tease and make snarky comments, usually aimed at people she either doesn't like (rich people/slave owners), or people she knows well and enjoys getting a reaction out of (Chikara Kyōkuma). Depending on who she's talking to, Yuna may lend herself to being quite the impulsive liar. She's always seeking some form of entertainment and enjoys the thrill of a difficult mission. However, some people theorize that she actually suffers from an inferiority complex, where she sees herself as so inferior and worthless compared to everyone around her that she compensates with aggressive behavior. At the end of the day, she's still insecure.
  +
  +
Yuna's hobbies generally revolve around her ambitions and reflect her current skill set. Sometimes, she like to steal from the rich and give back to poor. At other times, she'll be training her ninjutsu and working on her bandage fighting style. Because her bandages need to ensnare and tie up her adversaries, Yuna knows a lot about the binding arts, both practical and recreational. During her alone time, she indulges in tying herself up and escaping, a skill that she has refined after years of numerous attempts at escaping captivity. She personally considers herself quite the escape artist.

Appearance
Appearance
  +
When in the company of strangers, Yuna is quick to grab everyone's attention; physically speaking, she stands out from the rest of the crowd. Although she's technically 26 human years old, she feels and appears to be no older than 19½ Nekozoku years (due to nekozoku aging differently than humans) At 4'10" (147.32 cm) tall, she's certainly deemed very short for a woman her age and many are curious as to why she is so short. Simply put, females of her species typically never exceed 5'2" and even that is considered quite tall amongst nekozoku women. Further complimenting her small stature and slender physique, Yuna only weighs around 88.5 lbs. (40.14 kg). To some, she appears too skinny and perhaps she could try to eat more, but years of physical abuse have taken it's toll on her physical and mental health; even for a nekozoku, she's somewhat short and skinny. Of course, because of her combative lifestyle as a kunoichi, she's also physically fit and has toned muscles (where applicable due to her being a special case). Despite the apparent lack of fat on her body, the muscle she does have appears to be in better condition than most civilians (with the exception being her legs; they are quite frail and weak).
  +
  +
Alongside her short and skinny figure, Yuna is noted to have smaller than average breasts and a smaller posterior. Similarly, her hands and feet are both dainty and small, although still proportional to the rest of her body. Her bones are weaker and more fragile than most of her kind due to her abusive childhood. Above all else, her legs are the weakest and her arms are the strongest.
  +
  +
A survivor of slavery and abuse, Yuna's appearance reflects her life's experiences. Although her skin is typically beautiful and fair, scars can be found all across her body. She has cut marks on her wrists and ankles, and whip scars on her back, stomach, and legs; the worst of her injuries she keeps bandaged up. Due to years of wearing a slave collar, being strangled by her captors, and experiencing other gruesome forms of punishment (such as the brand her first master gave her with a white-hot iron), her neck has permanent marks that she covers by wrapping bandages around her neck like a choker. Finally, her crippled knees also bear several marks and scars
  +
  +
With regards to her face, Yuna is noted to have sharp, feminine features with a slight turned up nose, plush, pink lips, and sharp, relaxed, mint-green eyes. Her cheeks appear youthful and rosy, but she has a small scar on her right cheek. Her lips bear a single scar, and both of her eyes also have vertical scars. Her left eye in particular was cut so bad that she's unable to see from it. As a result, she now wears a white, cotton eye-patch over it.
  +
  +
Probably one of Yuna's most notable and distinct body markings is what is often mistaken to be a tattoo of sorts. After becoming the slave of the Silk Thread Empress, Manjushage, Yuna was given her mistress' special curse mark which permanently sealed away her ability to absorb and control nature energy. This was done to spare her life from her mistress' poison after a chance encounter in the Silk Forest of Submission, Manjushage's domain. Despite her haunting past, Yuna chooses to display this curse mark, as a symbol of her will and fortitude. To her, it's a sign of resistance and the ability to overcome. Though she'll never truly be free of its curse and thus, the clutches of her former mistress, it's the burden she carries to remember her life experiences and her struggles. Perhaps, she finds it empowering, after all, she is Yuna Hōtai: The one who escaped from the great spider-witch, Manjushage of the Silk Forest of Submission.
  +
  +
Yuna's mint-green hair compliments her matching-colored eyes, both of which she received from her mother, who's face she's long-since forgotten. Due to her wind-based ninjutsu, her bandage fighting style, and her movement style requiring her to swing through the air, she usually wears her hair at chin-length (although sometimes it grows to shoulder length or longer). This prevents her curly locks from blowing around and making a mess, or obstructing her view. Its shorter length also doesn't impair her speed, nor does it hang down too much when she's hanging upside down by her bandages. She makes sure to take good care of her hair and it usually smells of lilac.
  +
  +
Her hair color being mint-green, both Yuna's ears and tail also appear that color as well. However, the inside of her ears are a light, pink color and the tip of her tail fades into a delicate snow-white. Despite common misconception, she only has two ears on her head, those being her nekozoku ones; like her kin, she doesn't possess any human ears.
  +
  +

  +
With regards to her daily attire, Yuna stands out from the rest of society in that her outfit is particularly revealing and only covers the bare necessities. While most confuse (and accuse) her for wearing a scandalous bikini or a pair of undergarments year-round, what they fail to realize is that she's actually wearing the tribal attire of her kinswomen. Due to the warm and tropical climate of her home, the Land of Fruit, the Nekozoku have traditionally worn items of clothing that don't cover much of the body. Yuna's outfit in particular is viridian in color with mint-green embroidery. It exposes her scars and curse mark, but she has chosen to not run away from her past and to instead accept it head-on.
  +
  +
Like most of her kin, Yuna doesn't wear any shoes or sandals; everywhere she goes, she goes barefoot. However, due to her crippled legs, she doesn't need to walk as much as someone ordinarily would, acting as another incentive to forego donning footwear. If anything, the one thing she does wear is a bandage that wraps under her left foot, but that's to account for one her past injuries.
  +
  +
Finally, to accommodate her injuries and fighting style, Yuna's body is wrapped in bandages in various places, the most notable of which being what appears to be a giant viridian-colored "scarf" that wraps around her neck. While she does indeed wear bandages around her neck to hide her wounds, this viridian "scarf" is separate from those and its primary purpose is to aid in Yuna's movement and combat abilities. Hidden within the rolls of the scarf (which is actually a bandage) are fuinjutsu seals which she can use to summon more bandages to aid her in battle.
  +
  +
Abilities
  +
With regards to her abilities as a kunoichi, Yuna specializes in fighting with chakra-manipulated bandages, preferring to keep her distance from her enemies. She's also quite adept in Wind Release and Fūinjutsu.
  +
Enhanced Senses
  +
As a Nekozoku (猫族, "Cat-Family"), Yuna is a half-human/half-cat subspecies and therefore, is gifted with the natural talents and abilities of her kin. These abilities relate to her senses and come with several advantages and disadvantages. Additionally, they also classify her as a sensory type.
  +
  +
Born with a pair of little cat ears, Yuna possesses the ability to hear the same low frequencies that humans can hear, as well as the higher frequencies that humans cannot hear, meaning that the range of sounds she can hear is greater overall. This clearly gives her an edge in certain areas such as detection and tracking, as she can hear things much easier, however, she is slightly more susceptible to sound-based attacks, particularly those of high frequencies that humans cannot hear.
  +
  +
Yuna's eyes are special in that they're capable of seeing in the dark better than human eyes can. However, the disadvantages to this ability lie in the fact that her eyes are more sensitive to bright lights and she is somewhat near-sighted. Being only half-cat, she can't see as well in the dark as a normal feline, but she also doesn't suffer the full extent of the disadvantages that come along with her night vision.
  +
  +
Similar to members of Inuzuka Clan, Yuna has a better sense of smell than most humans. Naturally, she can smell up to 7 times greater than a human can, but by concentrating chakra to her nose, she can increase her sense of smell 100 fold, with her having a maximum smelling capacity of 700 times the average human (compared to Inuzuka Clan members who can reach over 1000 times). This makes her excellent at tracking and distinguishing people's unique scents. If she somehow finds herself unable to see, Yuna can always rely on her sense of smell to guide her (something she can also do with her sense of hearing). Of course, with a sense of smell that cannot go below 7 times that of the average human, Yuna is very susceptible to strong odors, especially when boosting her sense 100 times it's natural state. Unfortunately for Yuna, there have been instances where she's been completely incapacitated or subdued due to a powerful smell.
  +
  +
Alongside her 5 natural senses, Yuna also has a greater sense of balance when compared to an ordinary human. Not only does she know how to move and balance herself on all fours, but she also knows to how stabilize herself with her tail, as if it were an extra limb. Additionally, because of the way her brain is naturally wired, she's also better at recovering and landing from a fall. Her tail can also be used as a tricky way to steal things from people without them even noticing. If she's occupied the hands of an opponent, she can use her tail to snatch their weapon, steal their scrolls, or even choke them.
  +
  +
Disabilities
  +
Due to years of abuse while she was sold as a commodity in the slave trade, Yuna has received permanent injuries that scar her entire body. At the hands of her former master, half of Yuna's eyesight was stripped from her, leaving her unable to see out of her left eye; her master had attacked her with a knife, cutting her eye in the process. Over the years, she's learned to cope with her reduced field of vision and impaired depth perception, though it's not always easy: The fear of damaging her remaining eye and going completely blind terrifies Yuna.
  +
  +
Also at the hands of her former master, Yuna's knees were permanently damaged beyond repair; her master beat and crushed her legs with a club, preventing her from ever running again. Through strenuous rehabilitation and surgical procedures, Yuna has been able to learn to stand again. Sometimes, she attempts to slowly walk a few feet at a time on her own before inevitably stumbling and falling, or collapsing from her trembling and tender legs.
  +
  +
After being banished and outcast by her abusive master, Yuna stumbled upon Manjushage in the Silk Forest of Submission. During her time serving under her new Mistress, she was forced to undergo a near-unbreakable sealing contract. In exchange for her life, servitude, and tutorage, Yuna agreed to be branded with Manjushage's Juinjutsu, which permanently sealed her ability to absorb natural energy. As a result, Yuna is completely unable to learn or perform senjutsu, and cannot be turned to stone (or any other side effect) due to absorbing to much nature energy. She can, however, still be damaged and affected by ordinary senjutsu techniques. (It should be noted that senjutsu poison or other injectables are likely null against her.) Although she no longer serves under her former Mistress, Manjushage, her Mistress never removed the Juinjutsu: Yuna will likely carry this curse mark for the remainder of her life.
  +
  +
Although Manjushage was able to heal a large portion of Yuna's knee injuries, she also took the time to sterilize Yuna, thus depriving her of the ability to produce children. Never again would Yuna be able to get pregnant and give birth; those days were behind her. It was Yuna's decision however: While she had wanted to have children in the future, she could no longer bear the thought of going through the same painful process ever again. To avoid any sort of risk in the future where she'd be forced to carry an unwanted child, she requested that Manjushage perform a special medical ninjutsu procedure to permanently sterilize her. Manjushage complied.
  +
  +
Throughout most of Yuna's developing years, she was emotionally, mentally and physically abused. As a result of the immense stress and strain put on her mental health, she developed Dysthymia, otherwise known as persistent depressive disorder (PDD). While her symptoms aren't typically as severe as those of major depressive disorder, they are long-lasting and negatively impact her life in many different ways. She suffers from bouts of low self-esteem, occasional hypersomnia (sleeping too much), loss of appetite, and varying levels of sadness and hopelessness.
  +
  +
Fighting Style (Bandages)
  +
Yuna's greatest proficiency lies in her ability to manipulate and control her bandages as tools and weapons, allowing them to serve both combative and utilitarian purposes. She does so by flowing chakra into them, similar to the way Konan is able to manipulate and control her Dance of the Shikigamai. As a result, these techniques don't require any hand seals and are also quite low on chakra-consumption, given that she's not changing the nature, shape, or form of the chakra, and is simply using it to move and strengthen a pre-existing inanimate object.
  +
  +
The parent jutsu to all of her bandage techniques, Slashing Bandages allows Yuna to flow chakra into her bandages, which allows her to manipulate them and increase their strength, thus enabling them to cut through objects like rocks and trees with relative ease. They're most effective from mid to long range with the average bandage ranging from anywhere between 25 to 30 feet (9 meters).
  +
  +
Derived from the Slashing Bandages technique, Scattering Bandage Assault is one of Yuna's signature moves. When she uses this technique in a focused manner, her bandages have high piercing and penetrative power, being capable of attacking a target hiding behind an earth defense. Her bandages are often spread out so they can attack from different angles, and each individual bandage can slice through a rock so smoothly that it resembles a letter being slid into the slit of a mailbox. Alternatively, if she collects her bandages together to form an attack at a single designated point, the barrage of bandages will strike her target in a linear fashion and can cause boulders to burst apart due to the brute force of the attack. In contrast, Yuna can also use Scattering Bandage Assault by releasing a quantity of chakra that allows her bandages to go on a rampage around her, causing them to wildly attack in whip-like motions. The attacks can still cut, but aren't as controlled and sharp as their focused alternative.
  +
  +
Another one of Yuna's bandage-based ninjutsu, Subterrestrial Bandage Burial allows her to burrow her bandages into the ground and wrap them around her opponent's ankles. She can proceed to drag her opponent into the ground, burying them, or can even spring up more bandages to bind her target above the ground. Additionally, she may even swing her opponent around by the ankles and slam them into things like floors, walls, and ceilings. Additionally, Yuna doesn't have to be underground to perform this jutsu (although she can be), as the bandages are the tools that are doing the grabbing for her.
  +
  +
While many of Yuna's bandage techniques are focused on offense and creating space, Bandage Whirlwind is one of her few defensive ninjutsu. When using this technique, she manipulates her bandages by quickly and violently revolving them around her in a small radius, protecting herself within a whirlwind-like defense. If her bandages make contact with a projectile, they immediately deflect it away. Similarly, if there are trees or stones in the surrounding area, they may take damage or be destroyed. An attacker is usually knocked away, but if they aren't careful, they may wind up getting cut by the whirlwind. Although weak to certain types of ninjutsu and most genjutsu, this technique is quite effective against most taijutsu and ninja tools.
  +
  +
Finally, in the event that Yuna needs to bind or seal someone or something away, she can use the Bandage Binding Technique to do so. Using her bandages to tightly wrap up her intended opponent, she can completely immobilize them, thus preventing them from moving or using any techniques.
  +
  +
Movement
  +
When her master flew into a rage and crushed her knees and legs with a club, Yuna was forever stripped of her ability to ever run again, having sustained permanent damage to her now-crippled legs. Ordinarily, she can barely stand without the use of an aid and—for a time—she solely relied on either a wheelchair, crutches, or being carried by another person in order to get around. When standing, her tender legs are wobbly and weak, shaking as they try to find the strength to support themselves. She can try to walk a few feet at a time in a straight direction, so long as she's on a flat surface, but such a darling action usually results in her collapsing to the ground or falling over. Sometimes—especially when indoors—she balances on her knees and crawls on all fours in order to move about; her tail helps to stabilize her, so as to prevent her from falling over.
  +
  +
Over time, as Yuna began to master her ability to manipulate her bandages, she found that she was able to use them to support herself whenever she stood, although walking and running is still impossible. If there are trees, branches, or other things to grab hold of, she can swing around from tree to tree. She is quite proficient at this and can reach speeds fast enough to keep up with other shinobi. If there are no trees, buildings, or rocks around, then Yuna is typically left with one other option with regards to her movement via bandages. With her bandages, she can manipulate them to act as "spider-legs," however, such movement is usually quite slow and linear and leaves her quite vulnerable, as well as the downside of it draining chakra just to perform the action of walking.
  +
  +
Alongside her bandages, Yuna also is capable of using wind release to move. By using Wind Release: Stream, Yuna can breathe out a stream of air that blows her body in the opposite direction that she's facing. This technically allows her to fly for a short period of time and it moves her around fairly quickly. Additionally, if she's falling, she can use this technique in order to make a recovery and carry her to safety. She can also do the same, albeit far better, with Wind Release: Wind God Levitation, which allows her to levitate off the ground; using her bandages in conjunction with this technique increases her speed and maneuverability.
  +
  +
Finally, Yuna's primary mode of transportation is her personal summon, Kenta: a big, white, Bengal tiger who talks and can use wind release to attack and boost his running speed. He allows her to sit on his back and ride him as a mount, thus, he can usually be found in her company and is with her more often than without. Usually he can run around 30 miles per hour with Yuna on his back, but when he uses his Wind Release: Windwalker Technique, he can reach speeds up to 75 miles per hour. While on her journeys, Yuna is usually found riding atop Kenta. In a way, he's given her back the legs she thought she'd lost forever.
  +
  +
Taijutsu
  +
Yuna's overall physical capabilities are not only quite poor, they're abysmal. After years of abuse and the inability to use her both her legs, she is very weak, physically speaking. She simply doesn't have the strength or durability to compete with others in a close-quarters fight. As such, she prefers to keep her distance with her mid to long range attacks. She understands that she can't take a hit and if she does, she'll feel it much more than an ordinary person would. She also has weak punches and jabs and the inability to perform kicks or grappling maneuvers.
  +
  +
Considering how pathetic her level of strength is, Yuna also doesn't have the best stamina. She can hold her own and—fortunately for her—manipulating her bandages consumes very little chakra, but her overall stamina isn't too fantastic. She gets tired and runs out of energy easily if she gets caught up in a physically demanding fight for too long. To top it all off, her chakra reserves are slightly below average.
  +
  +
While her speed is ordinarily near-zero, Yuna can reach decent velocities when swinging around with her bandages or using Wind Release: Stream. Of course, riding on Kenta puts her in a position to be considered one of the faster kunoichi around, but she herself is only average when swinging from trees and such. That being said, she's quite good at dodging and evading and is quite dexterous. Over the years, her skills in self-preservation have resulted in her being quite flexible, nimble, and light-footed, although her ability to actually walk or run is practically non-existent.
  +
  +
With regards to Yuna's capacity for taijutsu, it's no surprise that its next to none; her weak physical state, combined with her situationally average speed, and her lackluster stamina make her clearly not suited for close-range combat. She does know an extensive amount of acrobatic maneuvers however, especially one's that require moving her legs up and out of the way, or spinning and balancing on her hands, but other than that, she is really only capable of throwing weak, untrained punches and forming a small defense by crossing her arms out in front of her body as if to shield herself from incoming blows.
  +
  +
Wind Release
  +
Yuna possesses skill and aptitude in only one of the five basic nature transformations: Wind Release. Although not particularly intimidating against a skilled shinobi, her wind ninjutsu are still quite deadly and useful. Thus, they should be taken into consideration when engaging in combat against her.
  +
  +
As previously mentioned, if Yuna is in a tough spot and needs to get out of a tricky situation that would otherwise require the use of her legs, she can use Wind Release: Stream to exhale a steady current of air from her mouth which'll project her in the opposite direction she's facing and allow her to fly around so long as she maintains the air stream. If she's somehow knocked up off her feet or finds herself falling from a great height, she can make a recovery and change direction while in mid-air at high speeds using this jutsu. She may also use this technique to blow up a dust cloud to create a diversion or to hide herself, as well as attack her opponent(s), but she rarely does this and mostly relies on this ninjutsu as an alternative form of movement. To add to it's greater versatility, it doesn't require hand seals and simply needs to be exhaled.
  +
  +
More advanced than the prior jutsu, Wind Release: Wind God Levitation allows Yuna to levitate off the ground, as well as drift about. It's comparable to walking or light jogging speeds, and she often uses it both in and outside of combat. Requiring no handseals, it can be toggles on and off by Yuna, enabling her to float around areas as mundane as a house, or maneuver landscapes as chaotic as a battlefield. It compensates for her inability to walk, but also helps her to recover to from falls or reach high places without much difficulty. She uses this technique in tandem with her bandages, in order to propel herself forward.
  +
  +
Commonly known as the "Sickle Weasel Technique," Yuna is able to perform the Wind Release: Wind Scythe technique. By waving her hands in front of her, she can send out several thin disks of sharp wind, which can cut down trees and sever limbs. These small blades of wind are useful for making space for Yuna to fight effectively by keeping her opponents at a comfortable distance. It's also rather low in chakra-consumption, and can be used many times before Yuna gets tired out. It should be noted that Yuna's usage of this technique requires hand seals: Snake → Dragon → Bird.
  +
  +
The most offensive wind technique in Yuna's ninjutsu arsenal, Wind Release: Vacuum Sphere allows her to shoot out several high-speed, bullet-like, currents of wind from her mouth after weaving the correct hand seals: Rat → Rabbit → Dog. The velocity of the bullets are impressive and they can catch opponents off-guard if their speed and reaction times are too slow to evade them. Additionally, they are each capable of piercing through a target and ripping holes through solid objects. The technique's effectiveness at all ranges makes it the ideal ninjutsu for Yuna, as she prefers to maintain her distance while still remaining capable of self-defense in close-range situations.
  +
  +
In contrast to Yuna's Wind Release: Vacuum Sphere, her most defensive wind technique is her Wind Release: Callous Windstorm, which—after weaving the Bird → Dog → Rat hand seals—allows her to force a strong wind outwards in all directions from the base of her feet. The wind may have minor cutting power, but is mostly intended to push away surrounding objects, forces, and projectiles. It can stop most projectiles (shuriken, kunai, certain jutsu) and can push people away from her. While it is technically possible to walk towards Yuna through her jutsu, it often proves to be quite difficult and is typically not worth the risk. However, if a jutsu or physical object is powerful enough, it can penetrate the windstorm and possibly land a hit on Yuna.
  +
  +
Fūinjutsu
  +
Under the tutelage of her former Mistress, Manjushage, Yuna was trained in Fūinjutsu and was educated in its properties and applications. Thus, her knowledge of hand seals is extensive and she's able to perform them quickly. Although not necessarily classified as Fūinjutsu, she also received an education in space-time ninjutsu and possesses the ability to perform certain techniques that require knowledge of such.
  +
  +
Passed down to her directly from Manjushage, Grounded Chain Paralysis is one of the most powerful techniques in Yuna's repertoire. After she creates a circular fūinjutsu seal on a surface, a multitude of silver-white chakra chains spring up from the seal, binding her opponent. The chains immediately seal her opponent's chakra and then harden into titanium. Her chains will pursue her target up to around 15 meters from the seal origin point. If her chains ensnare her target, the target is pulled back to the origin point of the sealing circle. The titanium chains wrap around her target's legs, ankles, arms, wrists, waist, torso, and neck; if she wishes it, a titanium plate can seal her target's mouth and speech. The chains can be tightened or loosed at her will. It's even possible to strangle someone to death or unconsciousness with these chains. The seal is permanent unless it's directly removed by Yuna, or if she runs out of chakra; one could also escape by other creative means. Genjutsu, particularly that of the Sharingan, or even the abilities of the Rinnegan could potentially trick Yuna into binding herself in her own chains, sealing her chakra so she can't undo the jutsu, yet still draining her chakra in order to maintain the jutsu. The possibility of being trapped in her own technique results in this technique being classified as a Kinjutsu. It is performed by weaving the hand seals: Rat → Dog → Ram → Hare → Horse → Dragon → Snake.
  +
  +
With the help of Manjushage, Yuna developed her own sealing technique. By incorporating a Sealing Tag into her Bandage Binding Technique, Yuna can stop the movement of people and reanimations by sealing them away. Upon being sealed, they cannot escape or use their chakra; they will be completely immobilized. It should be noted that if an outside force somehow removes the seal, or it the bandages are burned away along with the sealing tag, then the captive will once again be free.
  +
  +
In order to store food, equipment, clothes, and extra bandage reserves, Yuna uses the Enclosing Technique on both scrolls and her own bandages. When she needs to retrieve them, she simply uses the Unsealing Technique to summon them. If someone has been sealed by her Bandage Binding Technique, she can even store them inside a scroll or one of her own bandages, as a means to hide, transport, and carry them easier.
  +
  +
Finally, while not technically a fūinjutsu, Yuna is able to perform the Summoning Technique by drawing blood and weaving the hand seals: Boar → Dog → Bird → Monkey → Ram. Upon executing this technique, her summon, friend, and Lord Protector, Kenta, will appear in a puff of smoke. A legendary white Bengal tiger proficient in wind release, Kenta serves as Yuna's primary mode of transportation, combat support, and emotional caretaker.
  +
  +
General Skills
  +
Like most kunoichi capable of performing ninjutsu, Yuna is able to perform the basic Clone Technique. After weaving the correct hand seals—Tiger → Boar → Ox → Dog—she creates one to several intangible copies of herself. Over the years, this jutsu has saved Yuna many times from defeat and capture, with her successfully being able to trick her pursuers into following one of her clones while she escapes. During combat, she's shown her ability to confuse and occupy her opponents' attention while she makes a sneak attack from elsewhere. However, unlike many other shinobi, Yuna's poor stamina prevents her from creating tangible clones.
  +
  +
Alongside the clone technique, Yuna is also capable of performing the Transformation Technique to change her appearance into that of another person or object. This technique was also quite useful to her in the past and she used it many times to avoid capture and hide. In order to perform this technique, Yuna weaves the hand seals: Dog → Boar → Tiger.
  +
  +
Another utilitarian jutsu that Yuna employs, the Body Replacement Technique, has saved her life on more than a dozen accounts. After weaving her own variation of the hand seals—Bird → Boar → Dragon → Dog → Snake—she swaps her body out with another object the instant the next attack hits her. A sign of her intellect, she prefers to swap herself out with a few bandages, which can get caught up in an opponent's weapon or potentially entangle her attacker. She can also manipulate these bandages by using Chakra Flow and can immediately go on the offensive once her substitution is complete.
  +
  +
During her time as a slave, servant, and prisoner, Yuna had been captured, restrained, and tied up on numerous occasions. Over the course of her years in various forms of bondage, she's picked up a few tricks to help her get free from her bindings; the little Nekozoku is more crafty than she let's on. Having taught herself the Rope Escape Technique, Yuna is an expert at untying herself from most rope bondage scenarios. Only the most impossible and complex ties can hold her captive. This technique doesn't just apply to only rope however: any medium used in a similar fashion can be exploited. Rope, string, twine, and cloth are all susceptible to Yuna's escape skills. The secret is her tail, as most people fail to realize that she can use it to untie herself. That being said, she is still capable of escaping without being able to use it.
  +
  +
With such an extensive knowledge of rope ties, Yuna is also an expert of the binding arts, being able to keep most people properly tied up with little chance of escape. She even incorporates these skills into her jutsu that use bandages and other tendril-like attacks. These skills come in handy when taking prisoners.

Well... almost.

There was one threat to Nekozoku like Yuna. Because Nekozoku lived twice as long as humans and, upon reaching 13 years old, aged twice as slow, not to mention the fact that they were seen as a savage and inferior, yet exotic race by many humans, they were highly sought after as slaves. Pirates and slave-traders captured and sold Nekozoku to be used as forced labor workers, household servants, concubines, wives, pets, or personal playthings. Women and children were the most vulnerable and valuable, as they were the most valued commodity in the southern hemisphere, but men made for good physical laborers as well. As such, the Nekozoku tribes were always on watch, and they fended off potential invaders and kidnappers. However, despite their best efforts, it wasn't unusual for young children to be kidnapped by corsairs while playing in the water. Those children were often never heard of again.

Little Yuna had always heard of the stories of children being abducted; stories told by the village elders as a warning to the children never to stray far from the tribe. She knew several members of her tribe had gone missing in recent years and she knew slaver villains existed, yet whenever she played on the sandy shores or splashed in the clear-turquoise waters, there was no sight of such malevolent beings. However, such pure innocence and curiosity would not last much longer.

Sold Into Slavery
Like many of her kin, Yuna was sold into slavery on the mainland of the Shinobi-Knight Country. At only 8 years old, the little girl was made the "pet" of a corrupt feudal lord. She was forced to act like an ordinary cat, having to walk on all fours, eating and drinking out of a bowl, and wearing a collar to signify her ownership to her master. Through willpower and utter defiance, she resisted her master and refused to willingly accommodate his demands, only acting like a pet and slave when she was threatened with pain, or worse, beaten into submission. Having no need for such a "worthless animal" as a pet, her master eventually sold her in the hopes of buying a much more malleable creature.
+
At only 8 years old, Yuna was auctioned off and sold into slavery on the mainland of the Shinobi-Knight Country where she was bought by a young, but rich and powerful feudal lord. Because of her young age and potential to serve her master well, she was the prize to be had by whomever proved to be the highest bidder at the auction: Her new master crushed the competition and made away with Yuna as soon as he could, filling out the rights of ownership and handing over a “trivial” 65,000,000 ryō on the spot to claim immediate ownership of the poor girl. No sooner had Yuna been bought, was she shackled by her hands and feet, given a collar that declared her the property of her owner, and led into an ornate, gold-black palanquin where she was locked inside and carried away to her master’s palace.

  +
Upon arriving at her master’s estate, Yuna was released from the confines of her palanquin and was promptly escorted into her master’s dining hall for her first real meal in months; she hadn’t been eating properly since her abduction. There, Yuna was treated to all sorts of foods and dishes she’d never even seen or heard of: Warm, prepared meals were brought out on silver trays, fresh from the kitchen; Soups and porridges stuck to her bones, giving her strength and rejuvenation; a crystal flask was poured half-empty with a delicious juice she’d never tasted back at home. She ate with her feet shackled to her chair, but to her relief, her wrists were allowed their freedom for the occasion.
At the young age of 10, Yuna was sold to the wealthy owner of a successful brothel where she first worked as a simple servant, carrying the food and beverages to the rooms of the entertained. However, it wasn't long before the regulars began to demand they have their shot at Yuna herself and, much to her dismay, her owner had no qualms with filling his pockets to the brim off of her labors. There, she was forced to be the brothel's youngest ever hostess and harlot, attending to the needs of the most perverse clients. Whether she had to cuddle with and kiss a passing sailor, or allow her body to be used for more fleshly desires, she had no choice in the matter. If she resisted, she was later beaten, whipped, slapped around, or forced to service the most brutal and sexually deviant of clients. Eventually, however, the locals grew tired of her sexual incompetence; she eventually stopped resisting their advances and became numb to the whole experience: she was no longer fun to play around with. Thus, her owner thought of buying a new slave, one with more passion, and quickly tried to sell her off to another owner before she became more of a liability.

  +
It was difficult for Yuna to comprehend: Being treated so well, yet so poorly, all at once. Being shackled to a chair, yet free to eat to her heart’s desire. Being forced to serve, listen, and obey, but have waitresses and chefs bring desserts to her without request. How could such kindness be found in a business of such evil? How was this possible?
However.

  +
“I want you to marry me, Yuna.”
Not many buyers were in the market for a disobedient slave. One who refuses to work, then does a poor job? Worthless. One would can't put on a show and entertain guests? Worthless. The owner of the brothel became worried: a slave who was useless didn't go for much money; he'd be in the negative. He had to make some money getting rid of her, but how? Lucky for him, there was someone in the market for a slave like Yuna. The deal was made in secret, as the business of Yuna's new owner was highly illegal. Such a business was very common and the laws were never enforced, rather, exploited. The brothel owner made a fortune.

  +
The words echoed and hung in the air like a hangman’s noose. Yuna was only 8; she didn’t know what to do; she barely understood the concept of love and sexuality.
A New Life
At almost the age of 12, Yuna was sold to a shady organization that collected young, Nekozoku, slaves such as herself. The heart of their organization was found in a massive, underground tunnel system, though the organization's influence reached far and wide and cross the lands. Upon being sold to this organization, Yuna's feet were shackled together to allow for impaired walking, and her arms were boxtied with rope behind her back. A bit-gag was placed into her mouth to prevent her from speaking and a black blindfold was placed over her eyes which prevented her from seeing where she was walking. A tight, leather collar was place around her neck which made it a bit harder to breathe, and a rope was threaded through a metal ring in the collar, so Yuna could be led around like a dog.

  +
“Not yet, of course, but when you’re of suitable age, we shall be wed my dear.”
Unable to see anything, Yuna walked for what seemed like hours, sometimes tripping, or stumbling to her knees; a sharp yank on her collar choked her into obedience and she would straighten up and push on. Suddenly, the warmth of the outside disappeared and the sound of her sandals would be heard echoing in what seemed like a long hallway or corridor. She and her new owners walked for quite sometime before she was led into a cold and damp room where she was told to sit.

  +
Yuna could only listen to her master’s words. He was a young, naïve, arrogant man, probably around 19 or so, but somehow he possessed unnatural wealth, status, and power.
The stone floor was slightly wet and she could hear the faint dripping of water from the ceiling. She rested up against the wall while her captors figured out what to do with her; it was cold, icy almost, and also slightly damp. The air smelled slightly of mildew and moss.

  +
“Ah, but do not fret my love, for I will see to it that you are groomed to be my perfect bride; an exotic beast-turned tamed kitten truly worthy of one such as me. I will have you fashioned into the ultimate object of my desire. You will serve me, dearest, as both my wife and personal servant. Now, to bed with you, and do freshen up beforehand.”
Suddenly, Yuna heard footsteps approach her accompanied by the shackling of chains. She really needed to use the bathroom as she hadn't relieved herself at all that night. A rough jerk to her collar made her fall flat on her stomach as she whimpered in pain. Then, she felt a hand grab her collar and turn it around, so that the hook was facing the other direction, away from the back of her neck. The hand untied the rope that formed the leash of the collar and threaded through the metal ring a thick chain. The chain was then looped through a ring on the ceiling near the back wall of her cell and yanked down on, forcing Yuna to her knees as she choked. Her feet were then unshackled from one another, only for each one to be shackled directly to the wall behind her, spreading her legs apart as she was bound to the wall. Next came her arms which were untied, but were then shackled together behind her by her wrists and were raised up high enough to cause a slight discomfort; they too were bound to the wall.

  +
Before Yuna could speak, her master clapped his hands and two young, pretty maids came to show Yuna to her quarters. They gently unshackled Yuna’s feet in order to allow her to walk up the stairs of the palace. Though Yuna couldn’t quite put her finger on it, there seemed to be a sad look in the eyes of one of the women, as if she pitied the poor Yuna, yet there also seemed to be a hint of jealousy from the other one, as if she envied her future mistress.
Yuna didn't know what was coming next, but she was scarred. Suddenly, the footsteps existed the room and the loud clank of her cell door being closed and locked shut was heard. She waited, and waited, and waited, but nobody came back for her for the remainder of the night. She really needed to pee and her knees were beginning to hurt from maintaining her position. She tried to lower herself to the floor to give her poor knees a break, but she only ended up causing pain in her arms and choking herself on her collar, thus, she was forced to sit on her knees without rest. It was getting harder and harder to keep her urge to use the restroom in check, but for the sake of her pride, she held on for a bit longer, hoping someone would come along to allow her the relief she desired. After another hour of holding it in, she finally couldn't contain herself any longer and she shamefully let it all out on the cold, stone, floor. Devoid of energy, the young girl began to nod off to sleep, yet though she was exhausted, the pain in her knees, as well as the need to keep up their strength, prevented her from getting an ounce of sleep that night.

  +
Before she was sent to bed, Yuna was given a much-needed bath, courtesy of her maids, who had introduced themselves as Hina Kawasaki and Hinata Kawasaki. They washed her down with warm water, bubbles, and soap, before scrubbing her clean of all dirt and contamination. They shampooed her hair and brushed it afterwards, making sure to turn her rat-nested hair into a silky-smooth river of mint-green locks. Yuna had never had such a lovely bath before, nor such care taken to the maintenance of her hair. It was truly wonderful.
Hell
Yuna didn't know what time it was; it felt like she'd been sitting there for days, though in actuality, it was only a few hours. Many times throughout the night, she felt her strength slip away followed by the tight jerk of her collar against her throat. It was torturous. She wept.

  +
After the bath, the maids dried Yuna off and fetched her a pair of clean robes. Her sleeping gown was a short, silk kimono that was a beautiful navy-blue color ornate with white flamingos. It was the softest thing Yuna had ever worn, and wearing it immediately made her feel sleepy. Thus, she was ushered to bed and tucked under the covers.
She missed her family, her tribe, her happy life, even her time as a pet was better than this. What wouldn't she give just to go back and be that master's pet? Anything was better than this. Little did she know what was instore for her. Suddenly, Yuna heard heavy footsteps; many heavy footsteps. Then, a loud clank was heard as her cell door was unlocked and opened. A high-pitched, squeaky, and nasally male voice could be heard.

  +
As a first night precaution, the Hina and Hinata did what they were instructed to do: They shackled Yuna’s wrists to the headboard of her bed, so as to prevent her from trying to escape in the middle of the night. There was no way she’d be able to escape anyway, but after all the good things done for her that day, there still needed to be a way to remind her of her place: That of a slave, an inferior race, and the future wife of her master.
"Ah, I see that you're still hanging in there! Get it? Hanging?! By the n-e-c-k... Ahahahaha!... Hmmm... And I see that just like an animal you wet the couch. How... putrid. Release her."

  +
It was an uncomfortable position to try to sleep in, as her arms were suspended above her head the entire night, but in no time at all, Yuna fell fast asleep, exhausted from her crazy day and her introduction to her new life as her master’s property.
Yuna could hear two pairs of footsteps walk towards her and was relieved when they began to unshackle her, removing all her bindings, including her collar, gag, and blindfold. This time she could see who was talking to her.

  +
Over the next few years of her life, Yuna was taught everything she needed to know as the slave and future wife of her master. Her training spanned just over 3 years, officially ending a few months before her 12th birthday. During that time, she was taught how to cook and clean, and was properly instructed on the fundamental principles of a lady’s basic etiquette. She was instructed in the qualities of a good wife and given a rudimentary education.
The most skinny, scrawny, disgusting, man she'd ever seen stood in the doorway of her cell. He was wearing purple robes, black slippers, and a fancy hat, all of which were ornate and beautifully designed. The man spoke yet again.

  +
On the eve of her 12th birthday, Yuna and her master were united in “love” and “eternal companionship.” Throughout the whole ceremony, she barely spoke a word and ate practically nothing at all; she had no appetite. Her eyes were distant and unhappy, yet all her master could see was the fun night ahead for him after he whisked away his bride and locked the bedroom doors.
"Don't worry men, "it" hasn't the strength to escape, nor fight back. Now, you there, wench, filthy creature; I need you to know something very important. You belong to me. I own you now and my associates will see to your proper training. Oh yes dearie, we shall groom you from that of your unkempt filth into a proper slave for only the highest of bidders. By the end of your time here, you will be a changed kitten and will gladly serve your next master of mistress."

  +
It wasn’t long until Yuna began to feel unwell and her maids informed her that she was pregnant and expecting. She was only 12 years old.
And so, Yuna's new life began.

  +
When Yuna was 20 weeks into her pregnancy, she went into premature labor and gave birth to a stillborn baby girl: The poor thing never had a chance. Yuna’s master was furious; in his deluded eyes, her miscarriage was her rejection of him! He thought of slapping the exhausted Yuna hard across the face, but she had barely survived the night, so he kept his anger to himself to keep from injuring her. Considered himself a merciful husband, he assumed that surely the miserable wench had learned her lesson. He was convinced she would never defy him again, but just in case, she would need to undergo further, stricter training.
For the next few years of her worthless life, Yuna was subjected to all forms of cruel and inhuman torture in order to be whipped into the most submissive of slaves. She was taught both true pleasure and pain, day in and day out, without a moments rest. Hot candle wax was dripped onto her soft skin and stomach, causing her to howl in pain and struggle against her restraints. She regularly experienced punishment on devices such as the infamous wooden horse and forcibly experienced sensations against her will. Given little to eat, she never had much energy in her at all, but her daily sessions were gruesome. She was beaten to a pulp for even the smallest of mistakes, whipped until she bled and scarred for resisting punishment, and raped daily, often by one or more men or women.

  +
No sooner had Yuna recovered from her pregnancy was she put through the trials yet again and it was to no one's surprise when it was announced that the 13 year old Yuna was pregnant, yet again, with her master’s second child. The master desperately wanted a son and would do everything in his power to get what he wanted. However, despite everyone's best efforts, Yuna’s pregnancy ended up as a miscarriage: another girl. There was nothing Yuna could do, but her master felt deeply betrayed. In a frenzy, he brandished his dagger and slashed Yuna’s face twice, the first slicing her lips and the second one cutting her left eye. Yuna screamed in pain as she felt blood running down her face. The maids had to hold the master back in order to prevent him from killing Yuna in his anger, but he was not satisfied with his wife’s punishment.
At the age of 12, Yuna gave birth to her first child: a product her abuse and nonconsensual intercourse. Her poor daughter was stillborn and looked absolutely horrible. Yuna's age, physical incapability, and malnourishment had resulted in not only her bearing an unwanted child, but also bearing a child who would never live to see their first day. The experience traumatized Yuna, and she screamed and cried for days on end. Her discipliners eventually became so upset her that one of her female torturers slashed Yuna's left eye, permanently blinding her there.

  +
After the horrific events of the failed pregnancy, Yuna was given time to recover and her knife wounds were treated by her maids. She was told that she’d forever have two scars on her face: one on the right side of her mouth and another one slashed vertically down her left eye. However, that wasn’t the worst of it. The maids informed Yuna that she had permanently lost all vision in her left eye and would never be able to use it to see again. For the remainder of her life, she’d have to wear an eye-patch. Furthermore, she was to be escorted to her husband for retribution concerning her persistent failure and betrayal.
As another year rolled by, Yuna began to lose all hope. Her will was drained, completely diminished; it had crumbled away. She began to accept her fate and her role in life and, with the help of psychological brainwashing, began to believe that she enjoyed everything that was happening. Her beatings felt good. Her whippings felt good. Choking to the point of near-death felt good. Being humiliated, embarrassed, or degraded felt good. Sex felt good. Everything felt wonderful. It was truly beginning to seem like... heaven. That is, until she became pregnant again.

  +
That night, Yuna was beaten and whipped until she lost consciousness, upon which a bucket of cold water was dumped on her in order to wake her back up to repeat the process; her wounds burned and bled. She was denied food and drink and was put through hell at the hands of her husband for not providing him the child he so desperately wanted. What had she done to deserve this? Why was this happening? How could a young man like him be so cruel and unable to see reason? Why was she the one who had been dealt this hand of cards? The world was truly unfair.
Such a wonderful world of pleasure; such bliss; what heaven was this? And now a daughter produced by the men she'd grown accustomed to? Why, this was wonderful! She was going to be a mother! Oh, how she longed for some companionship!

  +
She wanted to die.
Because she had stopped being such a bad girl, her diet was improved and her health increased again. Pregnant again at 14 years old, she was looking forward to having this baby. With this little one, she wouldn't be left alone shackled to the wall at night anymore! She'd have her lovely daughter shackled there with her! Pleasured together with her! They could be friends! Oh, how she longed for a friend...

  +
When her hours of abuse had reached its end, Yuna was unshackled and unchained, immediately collapsing onto the cold stone floor. Her master cleaned off and stored away his whip, leaving Yuna to the care of the maids. Right then and there in the dungeon, the maids treated Yuna’s wounds, making sure to wash, disinfect, and bandage them up. They fed her some rice soup and porridge to help her regain her strength and gave her water to drink to quench her thirst. Her lips were dry, and parched; cracked like her fractured mind and soul. When she passed out again from the exhaustion and agony, her maids gently carried her to her room where she was allowed to rest for a few days in order for her wounds to heal.
When Yuna's second daughter was born alive, although premature and small, she was overjoyed and wanted to see her daughter's face. However, no soon did her captor's cut the umbilical cord, did they brandish a meat cleaver. In horror, Yuna watched as her baby girl was butchered right in front of her eyes. She screamed a fought with what little energy she had; both instances of pregnancy had almost taken her life. For a moment, she seemed to come to her senses and understood that this lace was no lonely heaven, but a torturous hell. As her years of brainwashing came undone, her master grew angry and sliced Yuna's lip with his dagger, forever scarring her mouth.

  +
After spending 3 days with a high fever, Yuna’s health gradually improved, but everytime she looked in the mirror at her scarred self, she was reminded of her fate. He damnable, inescapable fate! It was something that would never get better and never improve; her destiny was set in stone. She felt it in her heart:
From then on, Yuna held onto her state of mind. No matter how much trauma she endured, she couldn't risk falling victim to lies and manipulations again; she had to stay strong. Over the next 6 months, Yuna devised a plan to win her freedom from his pit of hell: She would pretend to become the utter sex slave her captors wished to mold her into and allow herself to be sold off to a client. Then, and only then, would she be able to escape. It took a bit of patience and skill in acting, but when those 6 months were up, her master was convinced that her will was completely broken and that she was ready to be auctioned for a massive profit.

  +
She would never be free.
A Costly Freedom
On her 15th birthday, Yuna was auctioned off as the "most obedient and submissive slave ever produced." Though she had a few injuries and scars, it was her skills in servitude that fetched her high price of 85,000,000 Ryō. She was sold as a concubine slave to a powerful prince reknown for his wealth, status, and many wives; Yuna herself was just another toy at his disposal. However, she had everyone fooled into believing she was a crazed, sex-hungry, feline when in actuality, she was waiting for her chance to strike. Her goal: escape without anyone noticing, or assassinate her new master and then flee. Freedom was closer than ever.

  +
When Yuna had finished recovering from her pregnancy and injuries, she was to serve her master once again. If she failed to deliver him a baby boy, she feared for her life what might happen to her. She didn’t ever want to try again.
Given the usual treatment of being tied, gagged, and blindfolded, Yuna was delivered to her new master's palace in a tiny, cramped, cage with little room for comfort. Upon arriving, she was released from all bindings other than her collar and her leash. Needing to keep up the act of submission, she did everything she could to entertain her lie of broken servitude, going as far as to crawl on all fours like a pet. It was humiliating, but freedom has it's price. After crawling all the way up the stairs, past the jealous wives, and into the Prince's bedroom, Yuna prepared herself on her master's bed.

  +
Within a year and at only 14 years old, Yuna was informed—much to her despair—that she was pregnant with her third child. This child would prove to be her last.
That night, Yuna was fully committed to servicing her Prince and obeying his each and every command. The night ended with her feeding his highness fruits and other delicacies whilst tending to his more "masculine" needs. As he rested his head on her lap, cushioned by her soft legs, she gently stroked his perfectly curled hair until he fell fast asleep. Now was her chance.

  +
After waiting the full 9 months, Yuna delivered her child into the arms of her maids who then cut the umbilical cord. She could hear the cries of a living, healthy baby and was so happy. At the very least, she could finally have some company: someone to keep her mind off of her eternity of hellish servitude. If her master was satisfied with his offspring, then perhaps her cruel mistreatment would stop as well. For now however, she just wanted to see her baby.
For once, Yuna wasn't bound or restrained by anything other than her collar of ownership. Gently, she slipped out from under the prince, being extra careful not to wake the young man. She looked around for an escape exit: she knew there were guards outside the Prince's room, so leaving through the doors was impossible; a window was the only other option.

  +
Yuna’s husband looked down at the wailing child wrapped in its blanket. Approaching it carefully, he picked it up before Yuna got a chance to see her baby’s face. He stared for a brief moment into the little one’s eyes and smiled gently. Suddenly, a rage consumed him and he murdered his daughter right in front of Yuna and the maids.
Without a sound, Yuna scurried over to the nearest window. Careful not to make much noise, she pulled back the curtains and slid open the glass panel. Looking out of the windowsill, Yuna's face grew slightly pale; below her was a 80 foot drop to the palace's main balcony. The coast seemed clear, but there was no way she'd ever be able to climb down such a distance. Suddenly, a light went off in her head.

  +
“I wanted a son you useless, insufferable, traitorous slut!” the master shrieked, “You have deceived me for the last time, all of you!”
Yuna grabbed the curtains from every window in the room, being extra careful to quietly unhinge them and gather them in a pile on the floor. Ripping each curtain into three long strips, she tied each strip to another strip, forming a long tether that she intended to tie to the Prince's bed in order to climb down the outside wall through the window.

  +
Yuna was crying and screaming as she saw her lifeless daughter’s corpse lying on the floor. The maids were mortified: what had they done to offend their lord? The young master considered the maids having failed miserably in the proper training of his treacherous wife; they were all scheming! They must have been! He called for his guards to seize the filthy wenches. Yuna was too tired to do anything but resist and cry in vain, while Hina and Hinata tearfully begged for mercy as they were dragged away. All three women, Yuna and the 2 young maids, were imprisoned in the dungeon where they would await their “overdue retribution.”
Once the preparation were set, Yuna was ready to descend the wall. She approached the window she intended to climb out of, but no sooner had she placed her foot on the frame of the windowsill, did the Prince's familiar hand tightly grab her shoulder. In horror, Yuna slowly turned around, wide-eyed, to see a face seething with the anger wrought from betrayal.

  +
Fire & Brimstone
Yuna made an attempt to explain her actions, but before she could say a word, the Prince slammed a nearby solid-gold candlestick holder into the side of her head, knocking her to the floor. She was dazed, but still conscious and her head burned as she felt blood trickle down to her jaw. She held her hands out in front of her to stop the incoming beatings, but it did her no good. The guards outside the Prince's chamber rushed in to see what was wrong, only to find his highness beating his new concubine to a brutal mess.

  +
Over the course of nearly a year, Yuna, Hina, and Hinata were imprisoned and broken by the palace torturers. They were subjected to cruel and unusual punishments that included the use of various torture devices such as the wooden horse, the strappado, and the judas cradle. Beaten, bruised, cut up, whipped, and barely fed, they endured pain, humiliation, and misery; to them, death was the better alternative.

  +
Though the girls had already suffered greatly, Yuna’s master still found their treatment dissatisfactory; he needed something more. To set an example to those who serve him, he announced a public display of the penalty of treachery. With this show of power, none would ever defy him again.
Enraged the Prince ordered Yuna be made a public demonstration immediately. His guards grabbed the near-unconscious Yuna and dragged her down the stairs outside to the entrance of the Palace. In no time at all, the guards, wives, concubines, and other slaves were all gathered in the plaza. It was then that Yuna's most grievous injury occurred.

  +
Yuna and her former maids were brought outside to the town plaza where the citizens of the master gathered for the show. The three women were devoid of all clothing which revealed their various cuts and bruises; they walked in a single file line with both their ankles and collars chained to the girl in front of and behind them. Their wrists were bound in leather straps behind their backs and as they walked, the crowd of bystanders could hear the distinct clanking of the metal chains against the cold stone of the plaza. All three girls were incredibly thin and pale with malnourishment and lack of sunlight.
As punishment for trying to escape, Yuna would be forever deprived of the use of her legs.

  +
In front of everyone, the three girls were beaten by the master himself. He thrashed them with his leather whip, cutting up their backs and causing them to bleed. He repeatedly choked them to the point of near death and if they lost consciousness, he beat them until they woke up. Yuna received the worst of it. Her master brandished a carving knife and played with her as he traced the blade across her skin. Up her stomach and over her bosom, the blade glided until it reached her face. With a quick flick of his wrist, the master’s blade etched a scar across Yuna’s right eyelids, narrowly avoiding the eye itself. Yuna screamed as she feared she had been rendered completely blind, but her lack of vision was the result of the blood impairing her vision.
Infront of the whole crowd, Yuna was mercilessly beaten and bashed. The Prince whitened an iron and before Yuna knew what had happened, the searing pain of the Prince's brand was forever scarred onto her lower abdomen: a sign of her disloyalty and betrayal to his authority. She screamed an ear-deafening shriek, but the worst of it was far from over. The guards broke both of her knees and twisted her legs, only to smash each knee with a large club afterwards, splintering and shattering her bones into fragments, and ripping her muscles apart. From the agony, the poor girl fainted, but the punishment continued for all to see: a warning to those who might ever even consider betraying his highness and trying to run away. Though she would be able to feel her move her legs and feet, Yuna would never be able to walk again. When the beatings had subsided, Yuna was thrown out of the palace onto the street and was left outside to rot in the cold rain; the water washed the blood away. With no way to walk, nor recover from her injuries, not to mention the Prince's brand ordering none to help her, the Prince assumed that Yuna would soon perish: He underestimated her will to live.

  +
  +
As Yuna fell to the ground holding her eye and crying in pain and fear, Yuna’s master retrieved a club from his arsenal of tools. A delusional rage consumed him and, raising his club, he brought it down on Yuna’s knees, first her left and then her right, causing Yuna to nearly faint from the pain. He broke her legs and shattered her kneecaps with his club, guaranteeing that the poor girl would never be able to walk again.
  +
  +
The maids and the crowd screamed in horror as they witnessed what had just happened to Yuna, but the master wasn’t quite through with his prisoner just yet; there was still one final thing he needed to do. The mastered turned to his torture assistant and nodded his head, upon which a white-hot iron was afforded to him. Walking over to each girl and requesting that they be pinned down, he ignored their tears and screams for mercy and he branded each of them on the right side of their neck. The brand seared its way onto the skin of the maids, as each cried out. When the brand was forever placed on Yuna, she let out a blood curdling shriek before fainting from the pain and shock of her injuries. Each girl would forever bear this mark of “untouchable”: To associate with or help them in any way would result in a death sentence and public execution.
  +
  +
The three girls were cast out of the town, left to fend for themselves. In the eyes of Yuna's former master, letting them waste away in the world was far better than simply killing them. Yuna, who was still unconscious and had lost her ability to walk, was cared for by Hinata and Hina, who thought it best if the three of them stuck together. Even if they had wanted to leave Yuna behind, they couldn’t; all three girls had been shackled together again and in order to move onwards, the maids needed to move with Yuna. Though they were both weak from the brutality and malnourishment they had endured, Yuna, who was small and thin, proved to be quite light. Thus, the two former maids pressed on, venturing out into the unknown world and carrying with them a 15 year old Yuna.

For two and a half weeks, the three exiled women traveled aimlessly across the land of Tao, desperately trying to find food, clothing, and shelter. For the first few days, they had been completely nude, having been stripped of all their rags before their public demonstration. Onlookers were completely disgusted at their indecency, calling them terrible, demeaning names and throwing food and rocks at them with the intention of hurting them. On these scarps of half-eaten food and unfinished meals, the three women fed themselves, barely having enough to share between the lot of them. They begged people to undo their shackles, pleading at their feet, but nobody would offer them a hand. Even if they wanted to, it was forbidden and punishable by death. The women had to sleep in barns, cold alleyways, or on the grass in the countryside, all the while looking for simple tools to break their chains. They had to avoid drunken men who sought a good time with their bodies. On one occasion they failed to outrun a small-town gang and by sheer luck avoided pregnancy.

During these two and a half weeks, Yuna was in terrible condition, burning up with a fever and fading in and out of consciousness. It took the combined effort of both of the maids to keep her alive. They could've killed her if they wanted too, but the two women realized that all three of them were in this together. Hinata in particular cared for Yuna and wanted to see her recover. While Yuna was in her delirious state, the maids tended to her wounds, particularly seeing to her knees and keeping them from getting infected. They used makeshift tools to pick out splinters and fragments of bone that had shattered and closed the wound as best they could.
  +
  +
By now, the trio had outfitted themselves with rags and bandages, wrapping their breasts in sarashi and wearing makeshift skirts that covered the bare essentials; by all accounts they appeared tribalistic. If one looked at the chains that connected them together, they'd notice signs of tinkering and beating, given how malformed and twisted the chains were, however, the women were unable to break the links and they eventually gave up on trying entirely. Yuna had been outfitted with a pair of makeshift crutches: Two forked branches that could support her weight (which wasn't much).
  +
  +
It wasn't until they neared their third week, did the women stumble upon a small ounce of good fortune. While drinking their fill from a stream, they encountered a bearded old man: a wandering monk who was returning from his journey. Out of the kindness in his heart, he offered them a place to stay at his temple, where they would be given proper clothes, a real meal, and a warm place to sleep. With tears welling in their eyes, the three girls graciously accepted his offer and began their time living at the temple.
  +
  +
The Bare Essentials
  +
Although the Land of Tao was unified under the Taoist religion, they were still tolerant to other religions and places of worship. The monk who had rescued Yuna and her companions was Buddhist and upon entering his temple, the three girls were greeted by a large, golden statue of the buddha. It was the monk's belief that such suffering was within his power to heal, and so he took it upon himself to forge for his guests a new life.
  +
  +
For two months, Yuna and her companions stayed at the Buddhist temple where they were cared and provided for. For clothes, they were given the red and gold robes typically worn by the Buddhist nuns. Food was no longer an issue and neither was a warm place to stay during the night. Yuna was given consistent medical care by the temple healer and her legs were recovering. In return for such hospitality, the three girls repaid the monks' kindness by helping out with chores around the temple. Yuna, being unable to walk, mostly assisted the Grandmaster Monk with his duties during prayer and the recitation of the mantras. Every time the attendees bowed down, she would sprinkle the blessing-water on them.
  +
  +
In addition to their helping out with the temple chores, the three women were also personally instructed in basic ninjutsu by the monk who brought them in. "I know you do not wish to remain here forever, but you must prepare yourself for what lies ahead," he warned them, "I will teach you Ninshu, so as to aid you in your journey, should you choose to leave. But be warned, Ninshu is not intended to hurt those around you, rather it is imbued with the purpose to connect you to one another; to foster peace and growth. Even so, I have doubts you will refrain from using the more disastrous incarnation of it: Ninjutsu. And, I have my doubts that should I leave you with no knowledge of it, you will find yourselves unable to survive in this world where you have been outcast. As a result, I will teach you both Ninshu and Ninjutsu in the hopes that you follow the path of peace, as opposed to the path of destruction."
  +
  +
During her first lesson, Yuna was taught about the mysterious nature of chakra, learning all about the different transformations and usages there were for such abilities. She was taught the fundamentals of chakra control, learning to focus and manipulate it. During her second lesson, she was given a chakra induction paper and told to expose it to her chakra, causing it to split in two: her chakra affinity was Wind Release.
  +
  +
Over the course of the next two months, Yuna would spends hours a day learning wind-based ninjutsu. While most of the monks seemed to either possess an affinity for fire or earth release, there were a few who could use wind proficiently. From them, Yuna was taught two basic, yet useful wind-based ninjutsu: Wind Release: Wind Scythe and Wind Release: Stream. Wind Scythe allowed her to hurl sharp disks of wind with a wave of her hands and stream allowed her to propelled herself backwards and fly around—the monks thought it'd be useful to Yuna, given her inability to properly walk now.
  +
  +
In addition to her elemental ninjutsu training, Yuna was also taught the basic Clone Technique, as well as the Transformation Technique. She was a pretty quick learner and the monks were pleasantly surprised at how fast she had been able to learn the jutsu they taught her. However, though she was able to master the transformation technique while under the tuleage of the monks, she never got the chance to master the clone technique before leaving the temple. Only later would she fully master the jutsu.
  +
  +
Although the monks tried to teach Yuna the basics of taijutsu, there was very little they could do for her; she could barely even stand, let alone walk on her own. Still, they informed her of rudimentary self-defense principles in the hopes that they might somehow come in handy in the future. It wasn't much, but it was all they could offer and Yuna was eternally grateful for their kindness.
  +
  +
Aside from their daily chores and lessons, there was one other thing that the monks had to teach Yuna and her friends. Rather, it was more of a warning. Off the road next to the temple and across the tall-grass field was a forest.
  +
  +
"Never go near that forest, Yuna," the elder monk warned her, "those who enter never return. The place is home to demons."
  +
  +
Midnight Exchange
  +
Even though she loved the monks and the precious time she'd spent at the Buddhist temple, Yuna longed for nothing more than to return home to her mama and papa in the Land of Fruit. It pained her to say goodbye to what had essentially become her new family, but she had made up her mind: After the sun had risen, she'd be off.
  +
  +
The night before her departure, the monks held a small goodbye party for Yuna. Hina and Hinata were staying behind at the temple to become nuns, where they hoped to create a new life for themselves, which meant that Yuna would have to travel all the way back home on her own—something that frightened her, but made her feel more free than she ever had felt before. She was still recovering mentally from her years of abuse and slavery, but now it all seemed like just a bad dream: A distant memory.
  +
  +
Before they ate, Yuna gave a small speech in front of the whole assembly. She thanked everyone for putting up with her and teaching her everything she needed to know in order to prepare herself. She promised to return one day in the future and apologized, regretting that all she could give them in return was her gratitude. As she spoke, she began to tear up; she didn't want to leave, but she missed her tribe. Finishing strong, she sorted herself in seiza position and performed a saikeirei, the deepest and most respectful bow one could use. Sitting back up, she rubbed away her tears and smiled.
  +
  +
The party wasn't too fancy, nor was it extravagant, but everyone enjoyed themselves and went to bed with full bellies. That night, Yuna could barely sleep. Instead she lied awake for hours, recounting all the good memories she'd had while at the temple. Unable to sleep, she crawled over to her crutches and went out to the garden to get some fresh air. Looking up at the stars, Yuna could make out the constellations in the night sky.
  +
  +
Back in the Land of Fruit, the Nekozoku navigated at night using the stars and moon; the moon itself was considered a deity of sorts. Yuna recalled the faint words of her mother echoing in the back of her mind, "Yuna, if ever you find yourself lost, the stars will show you the way. If ever you are uncertain, the biggest, brightest one points towards home. If ever you are without light, the moon will share some of hers with you. They are the spirits of our ancestors, Yuna; they watch over us, protecting us. Even if mama and papa are no longer around, know that we will always be with you, watching over you Yuna. So long as you look to night sky, know that you will never be alone. We will be at your side."
  +
  +
Yuna wondered if her parents were even still alive. Perhaps they had forgotten her by now? She was only 7 years old when she had been abducted by corsairs; now she was 15. It was hard to believe that she'd been a slave for 7 to 8 years, over half of her current life. It was so much to take in. She had underwent the most unimaginable cruelties during her enslavement: rape, unwilling childbirth, mental abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse, and malnourishment. Just thinking about it made her feel pain in her knees, as they hadn't healed fully yet. She worried if she was going to be alright travelling alone. Would she be able to take care of herself? How would she survive? No doubt the journey would be difficult and perilous, but Yuna had already made her decision. This is what she truly wanted.
  +

Suddenly, Yuna's ears twitched: she had heard something. Even with her acute hearing, the words were hard to make out, implying that the conversation was either happening far away or behind closed doors. Curious as to what someone else was doing up at this hour, she followed the noise to the outskirts of the temple, far away from where anyone with human ears would be able to hear.
  +
  +
Peeking around the corner, Yuna saw one of the temple nuns conversing with a man clad head to toe in a strangely familiar armor. Although Yuna could see in the dark, due to her night-vision capabilities, the nun was facing away from her, so she couldn't make out any faces. Suddenly the man in armor drew his sword and slapped the nun to the side.
  +
  +
"You wench! You set me up! You had us followed!" he yelled, "We never should have trusted the likes of you!"
  +
  +
The nun was crying on the floor, holding the cheek where she had been slapped. Now facing the opposite direction, she looked up in horror right at Yuna: It was Hina. They had seen the fluorescent glint of Yuna's cat-like eyes, reflecting the light of the armored man's handheld lamp. "I'm sorry, Yuna," the traitorous maid exclaimed, "they were going to kill me if I didn't help them!"
  +
  +
From the shadows, several other men in matching armor emerged, each bearing the familiar crest of Yuna's previous master; they had been followed!
  +
  +
The first soldier spoke aloud, "We were planning on doing this quietly and making a public demonstration of all of you, but it seems that now we've lost the element of surprise!" He must have thought that Hina really had set him up and that the Monks were gathered around waiting to ambush the soldiers. However, Yuna knew the truth: the monks were fast asleep. Speaking out into the darkness, the soldier screamed, "You know the penalty for offering courtesy to an exiled! Their brands marked them so! You know that the penalty is death! Men, on me!" The soldier turned towards Yuna, who was paralyzed with fear, "And somebody grab her, she must not be allowed to escape; he wants her alive!"
  +
  +
Before Yuna had a chance to process what was happening, 2 soldiers rushed at her with a pair of chains and a muzzle, their armor clanking loudly as they swiftly approached her. Unsure of what to do, she screamed and tried to run away, but then tripped and fell as her knees buckled without the strength to support her. Even though she knew some ninjutsu, she had never had to use it in a fight before and she was too afraid to do anything. It was only seconds before the soldiers had caught up to her.
  +
  +
As she screamed and resisted, begging to be released, the soldiers slipped the muzzle over Yuna's mouth and bound her ankles to her wrists with chains. From his pocket, one of the soldiers withdrew a black blindfold and proceeded to quickly wrap it over Yuna's eyes. Just before it completely impaired her vision, Yuna saw Hina, traitorous maid, being given the exact same treatment. "Why had they waited so long to capture them? Why did they want them alive? Why would they set them free only to want them back?" Yuna asked herself, trying to wriggle out of her bindings. It was no use.
  +
  +
"Light it up!" a loud voice boomed. It was the leader giving orders, but what did he mean by "light it up?"
  +
  +
Suddenly, Yuna heard several men simultaneously yell, "Fire Release: Dragon Fire Technique!" They were lighting the temple on fire, burning everyone alive inside while they slept.
  +
  +
In despair, Yuna cried through her muzzle, releasing long, drawn-out whimpers of emotional turmoil. "No!" she tried to scream, but her voice was barely audible and didn't make much noise. After everything the monks had done to help her, after everything they had taught her, and she was still so useless! If she had just moved sooner, she could have warned them! If she wasn't such a coward!
  +
  +
As she rocked back and forth, struggling and squirming against her bindings, Yuna heard a very loud crash. She thought it must have been the temple collapsing on itself, but it had not yet fallen in actuality. Suddenly, a loud and wild holler could be heard from above: It was a man's voice. A man was falling from the sky.
  +
  +
"Get him!" the leading soldier shouted, "the bastards got a staff!"
  +
  +
Unbeknownst yet to Yuna, the elder monk had just blast through the wooden temple walls and had come crashing down on one of the soldiers, monkey staff in hand. No sooner did his feet touch the ground did he go on a total rampage, bludgeoning his foes and twirling his staff with such blinding speed and power that the soldiers couldn't even see his staff strikes coming. His shouts resembled that of a monkey and he flipped off nearby walls with unnatural dexterity for a man well into his 80's.
  +
  +
No sooner had the elder monk begun to defend the temple, did several other monks and nuns emerge from the blazing building, each prepared to defend their monastery. The battle had begun. The monks charged into the thick of enemy soldiers, equipped with staffs, spades, swords, and even their bare fists. One monk punched a hole right through the armor of one of the soldier's and ripped out his kidney. A nun manifested a blade made of water and began slashing and hacking at the soldiers.
  +
  +
While the chaos ensued, Yuna—who was still bound on the floor—felt a pair of hands grab her. Flinching, she struggled against her supposed captor, as he wrestled with her. Suddenly, her muzzle was removed and the blindfold was lifted from her eyes. Seeing the familiar face of the wandering monk who had first taken her and her companions in, Yuna could barely hold back her tears. With a quick swipe of his hand, he severed the chains that bound her and, although the shackles were still clamped around her wrists and ankles, she could no move freely, albeit with the added noise and weight of her chains. Before she could thank him, a group of soldiers began attacking him from behind. Turning around to face them, he urged Yuna to run: He would hold them off.
  +
  +
Yuna tried to crawl away, but she could barely move due to her crippled knees. Remembering her training, she breathed in deeply and used Wind Release: Stream, which propelled her up into the air and carried her into a grassy field away from the battle. Upon landing, she stumbled and fell, but was cushioned by the tall blades of grass, which reached above her head. Using the technique again, she pushed herself up and over the grass, further and further away from the battle, before falling onto the grass cushion again. Not wanting to attract any more attention to herself, she crawled on her side, pushing herself with her weak legs and pulling herself forward by grabbing onto the grass. She made a great effort to limit the rattling of her chains.
  +
  +
After some time crawling on the ground, Yuna took a short break, exhausted from pushing her physical abilities to their limits. She could hear the battle raging on behind her as she laid hidden in the grass. She felt like such a coward, but she knew that if she tried to help, she'd only get in the way and risk capture. Pulling herself together, she mustered the strength to push on and continued to drag herself across the dense field of grass and reeds.
  +
  +
Suddenly, Yuna heard rustling coming from the brush behind her: Someone was catching up to her. However, instead of hearing the sounds of her pursuer's armor and voices, she heard what sounded like two women panting and bickering. Their voices were familiar: They belonged to Hina and Hinata! Closing her eyes and sniffing the air, Yuna focused chakra to her nose in an attempt to make out their scents. They matched; it really was them.
  +
  +
"Hinata!" Yuna whispered loudly, "Hinata!"
  +

Into The Woods
  +
Upon reuniting with Hinata and Hina, the three women got into a quick fight, with Yuna and Hinata grilling Hina for her treacherous actions. Although they were angry, they were more sad than anything else: The feeling of betrayal felt like an icy blade to the heart. Yuna was in tears, her heart broken, having witnessed the bravery and sacrifice of the monks.
  +
  +
Despite Yuna's distrust of Hina, she knew that the girls were going to have to work together if they were going to survive and followed Hinata's lead in their self-preservation efforts. As the three girls crawled through the tall grass, they inched closer and closer to the forest the monks had warned them about.
  +
  +
"The monks told me never to go in there," Yuna spoke softly, "I don't think it's a good idea."
  +
  +
Taking this warning into consideration, Hinata was just about to assure Yuna that they'd avoid the forest when the latter began to breathe heavily. Panicking, Yuna revealed to the girls that she could make out the sound of clanking armor quickly approaching their location. Within moments, the girls could make out male voices shouting in the distance.
  +
  +
"They went this way!"
  +
  +
"Look, the grass is parted!"
  +
  +
"I see small footprints!"
  +
  +
As the soldiers drew closer, a pair of arms grabbed Yuna, as Hinata flung the little nekozoku over her shoulders. With little time and no where else to go, their only choice was to escape through the forest, although they were sure they wouldn't make it far before they were caught. Still, they had to try!
  +
  +
No sooner had the women set foot in the forest, did the captain and his men emerge from the grass, all them grinning widely as they set their eyes on the prey. However, within moments their smiles faded and looks of unease crossed the soldiers' faces as they stopped their pursuit at the fringes of the forest.
  +
  +
"Captain, what do we do!" one soldier asked worriedly. The Captain was thinking.
  +
  +
"We... wait." He replied steadily, unsure of what exactly to do. In truth, he had no desire to enter that forest. He wasn't suicidal. He had a wife and kids to go home too. It wasn't worth it. No way in hell was it worth it.
  +
  +
As Yuna and her fellow women fled into the forest, the captain watched as they disappeared into the trees. "They'll be dead by the morning," he whispered to himself.
  +
  +
Carried into the forest by Hinata, Yuna placed her trust in the young human girl. Unlike Hina, Hinata had always been kind to her. During some of the hardest moments in Yuna's life, Hinata had been there and had always taken good care of her. In fact, Yuna didn't know where she'd be without Hinata. If it hadn't been for her, Yuna thought she might not have survived after being exiled. Someday, she wanted to repay Hinata's kindness, but she doubted they'd get far; the soldiers must be right on their tails.
  +
  +
Except their scent was getting further and further away. Turning back to look over her shoulder, Yuna couldn't see anyone behind her other than Hina. It seemed that the soldiers had either somehow lost them, or abandoned the pursuit. Confused and slightly worried, yet also relived, she was about to bring it up with the others when Hina screamed and fell to the ground. Her face was as pale as a ghost and she looked totally mortified. Pointing up at the tree branches above, she couldn't muster the words to express her horror. Looking up, Yuna's eyes constricted as she came to realize just what had emotionally petrified Hina. Hanging from the branches above them were rows upon rows of corpses, each with a noose wrapped tightly around their necks. The bodies weren't fresh; some had even collapsed to the forest floor once all that remained were bones. It appeared that this forest was where tormented souls went to ease their sufferings.
  +
  +
While Yuna and Hina were consumed by fear, Hinata urged them to push forward; they had to find a way out while also avoiding capture by the soldiers, who were likely waiting from them around the nearby outskirts of the forest. In fact, she knew they had no choice but to push through, so it was up to her to be strong for all of them. If her knowledge was correct, the Land of Owls should be on the other side of this forest. If she and the girls could make it there, they'd be free. Once again taking the lead, she continued into depths of the forest.
  +
  +
As the girls tread deeper and deeper into the forest, they began to notice some very peculiar things. There was very little vegetation and no animals. The trees were grey and wicked looking; their roots were almost blood-red in color. A thick mist or fog enveloped the forest floor and very little light shown through the tree leaves. Although little light made it's way into the forest, the setting sun reduced the forest floor to nothing more than a shadow void. Although Yuna could see well in the dark, Hina and Hinata couldn't and thus they had to stop. Unable to navigate the forest now and in desperate need of sleep, Yuna and her companions found a large tree to curl up underneath and passed out.
  +
  +
The Silk Slave Mistress
  +
Waking abruptly from her slumber, Yuna's ears twitched at the sound of a branch snapping. Something felt... wrong. Pretending to still be asleep, the young nekozoku concentrated her chakra to her nose and sniffed the air. Upon doing so, she paralyzed herself with fear. In the tree above them, mere meters away, was a strong smell unlike any she had ever experienced. It smelled... sweet, soothing almost, if one didn't think about it, but something about the scent warned Yuna that something was simply not right. The scent was deceptively kind, deceivingly innocent; it was an aroma of pure evil.
  +
  +
Scared and unsure of what exactly to do, Yuna kept her eyes closed, tightening them shut with fear. It all felt like a bad dream and she wanted to just disappear, but something in her soul told her that she had to open her eyes. Opening just one eye the tiniest bit, Yuna couldn't help but freeze in horror. Mere inches from her face were a pair of bright, glowing, red eyes that belonged to what appeared to be the most beautiful woman Yuna had ever seen. However, this woman was no woman at all. To Yuna, she was a demon.
  +
  +
"Sweet dreams?" Manjushage inquired, as she gave Yuna a seductive smile.
  +
  +
Barely able to take her eyes off of the beautiful "woman," Yuna could help but notice that it had the nude upper body of a human female, but the lower body of a giant black-widow spider. Unbeknownst to Yuna, she had stumbled across a legendary, terrifying creature: A Jorōgumo (Woman-Spider). Afraid of moving at all, or making even the slightest noise, all Yuna could do was continue to stare into the eyes of the great spider mistress.
  +
  +
"Aw, how adorable," the spider whispered playfully, "the little one is so scared, she can't even warn her friends. Poor baby." The Jorōgumo raised her clearly-human hand up to Yuna's face and caressed her cheek, rubbing it gently. Her skin was softer and smoother than silk, and more brilliant and pale than the moon. A single tear trailed down Yuna's cheek and onto the Jorōgumo's hand. "Don't cry dearest," the Jorōgumo assured her, "here." Suddenly, the beautiful Jorōgumo woman metamorphosed into a complete woman, who was completely nude by the looks of it. Gently grabbing Yuna's head, she held the young nekozoku's head up against her voluptuous bosom. Yuna felt calm... at peace. Was this really it? Or was this some sort of dream?
  +
  +
"I promise it won't hurt," Manjushage whispered gently, as she patted Yuna's head and stroked her hair. "I promise it will all be over in an instant." Leaning in, she sniffed Yuna's neck and brushed her perfect, ruby-red lips up against the young nekozoku's skin. "Mmmhmm ahh..." she flirted with herself as she opened her mouth and made to bite right into Yuna's neck. Yuna could feel the creature's human teeth on her neck, yet somehow, she couldn't find the will to resist or cry out. It was as if there was a simply overwhelming, domineering power contained within this Jorōgumo's aura; there was the feeling of hopelessness, of submission—that resistance was futile.
  +
  +
And it was.
  +
  +
Suddenly, Hinata sprung up, rock in hand, and attempted to bring it down on the Jorōgumo's head. However, the Jorōgumo woman was quick and grabbed the young girl's arm, forcing her to drop the stone. "Oh, so we do have some with defiance tonight," the Jorōgumo chuckled to herself. Turning to face Yuna, she spoke, "It would seem that you're in luck little one. I get to play with you a bit later." Eying Hinata, the Jorōgumo smiled as she saw the fierceness in the girl's eyes drain away and turn to fear. "I have to congratulate you for your bravery, darling, but resolve without power spells defeat for those who cannot contend." Reaching in to bite Hinata, the Jorōgumo kissed the young girl's neck and opened her mouth only to close it a moment later. Whispering into Hinata's ear, the Jorōgumo spoke, "You have fifth-teen seconds."
  +
  +
In an instant, Hinata's will to survive kicked in, and she grabbed Yuna and began to run aimlessly into the forest, grasping at whatever morsel of hope she could find that would keep her and Yuna safe. Running behind the was Hina, who had also been awake the whole time, but refused to say or do anything out of fear and pretended to sleep. As Hinata ran as fast as she could with Yuna on her back, Hina eventually passed her, so that the latter was now in the lead in the fight for survival.
  +
  +
It was hopeless.
  +
  +
On Hinata's back, Yuna watched as several, silvery tendrils flew past her on either side and caught up with Hina, each grabbing hold of one of her limbs.

Yuna hates the slavery system and wishes to free them, especially her fellow nekozoku. Pleads with Manju. Denied. Tries to sneak them out. Caught. Treason. Fight. Full sealing (later unsealed but senjutsu seal is forever). Manju's personal resource. Chains decoration. Freed by Shibara but must escape. Manju sealed and imprisoned by shibara for violating the laws and customs of the forest. Placed in town square. Shibara decides to spare Yuna and give her one last chance at life. Shibara does not free the prisoners, as such is there custom and way of life. Must maintain sovereignty. If Yuna ever returns, she'll be killed or sentenced. Yuna flees. manju sealed. Shibara assumes control of forest society, but does not directly control affairs. She asexually births a daughter who will be groomed to rule the forest. They will never share a connection or bond with one another.

Sealing Yuna's senjutsu also prevents the poison variant from affecting her, since it nullifies injectable senjutsu chakra. One of the reasons manju did this was to protect her.

Silk Forest of Submission Yuna The Betrayer Silk Forest of Submission

Yuna Hōtai (優心 包帯, "Gentle-Heart Bandages") is a female Nekozoku (half-human/half-cat) originally from the Land of Fruit. She specializes in using Bandages as an offensive tool, using Chakra Flow in order to manipulate them for her techniques; they're also used to increase her movement capabilities. Additionally, she's skillful in both Wind Release and Fūinjutsu, often using them in conjunction with her bandage-based techniques. She typically prefers to maintain a medium distance of engagement, but can fight well at all ranges.

Listen to Yuna's theme while reading.

Personality

Appearance

Yuna 2

Abilities

With regards to her abilities as a kunoichi, Yuna specializes in fighting with chakra-manipulated bandages, preferring to keep her distance from her enemies. She's also quite adept in Wind Release and Fūinjutsu.

Enhanced Senses

As a Nekozoku (猫族, "Cat-Family"), Yuna is a half-human/half-cat subspecies and therefore, is gifted with the natural talents and abilities of her kin. These abilities relate to her senses and come with several advantages and disadvantages. Additionally, they also classify her as a sensory type.

Disabilities

Due to years of abuse while she was sold as a commodity in the slave trade, Yuna has received permanent injuries that scar her entire body. At the hands of her former master, half of Yuna's eyesight was stripped from her, leaving her unable to see out of her left eye; her master had attacked her with a knife, cutting her eye in the process. Over the years, she's learned to cope with her reduced field of vision and impaired depth perception, though it's not always easy: The fear of damaging her remaining eye and going completely blind terrifies Yuna.

Fighting Style (Bandages)

Yuna's greatest proficiency lies in her ability to manipulate and control her bandages as tools and weapons, allowing them to serve both combative and utilitarian purposes. She does so by flowing chakra into them, similar to the way Konan is able to manipulate and control her paper techniques. As a result, these techniques don't require any hand seals and are also quite low on chakra-consumption, given that she's not changing the nature, shape, or form of the chakra, and is simply using it to move and strengthen a pre-existing inanimate object.

Finally, in the event that Yuna needs to bind or seal someone or something away, she can use the Bandage Binding Technique to do so. Using her bandages to tightly wrap up her intended opponent, she can completely immobilize them, thus preventing them from moving or using any techniques.

Movement

Taijutsu

Yuna's overall physical capabilities are not only quite poor, they're abysmal. After years of abuse and the inability to use her both her legs, she is very weak, physically speaking. She simply doesn't have the strength or durability to compete with others in a close-quarters fight. As such, she prefers to keep her distance with her mid to long range attacks. She understands that she can't take a hit and if she does, she'll feel it much more than an ordinary person would. She also has weak punches and jabs and the inability to perform kicks or grappling maneuvers.

Wind Release

Yuna possesses skill and aptitude in only one of the five basic nature transformations: Wind Release. Although not particularly intimidating against a skilled shinobi, her wind ninjutsu are still quite deadly and useful. Thus, they should be taken into consideration when engaging in combat against her.

Fūinjutsu

Under the tutelage of her former Mistress, Manjushage, Yuna was trained in Fūinjutsu and was educated in its properties and applications. Thus, her knowledge of hand seals is extensive and she's able to perform them quickly. Although not necessarily classified as Fūinjutsu, she also received an education in space-time ninjutsu and possesses the ability to perform certain techniques that require knowledge of such.

General Skills

With such an extensive knowledge of rope ties, Yuna is also an expert of the binding arts, being able to keep most people properly tied up with little chance of escape. She even incorporates these skills into her jutsu that use bandages and other tendril-like attacks. These skills come in handy when taking prisoners.

Background

Youth

Yuna Hōtai was born into a small tribe of Nekozoku (half-human/half-cat folk) in the Land of Fruit. There, she spent most of her adolescent years and lived in peace, harmony, and happiness with the members of her tribe. She loved the tropical, warm and sandy beaches, the delicious fruits found on the shores, the vibrant colors of the plants and animals, and the salty sea breeze that passed through the trees of the forests. Whenever there was a great festival, her tribe played games and feasted with the other neighboring tribes. All sorts of different Nekozoku could be found on the island. She made friends with the other children, many of whom resembled bengal tigers, white tigers, panthers, and all sorts of other cats. Without any wars or political conflicts, life was joyous and peaceful without a care in the world.

Well... almost.

There was one threat to Nekozoku like Yuna. Because Nekozoku lived longer than humans and, upon reaching 13 years old, aged twice as slow, not to mention the fact that they were seen as a savage and inferior, yet exotic race by many humans, they were highly sought after as slaves.

Abduction

One day, an ordinary day like any other, 7 year old Yuna and her childhood friends went out to play and explore accompanied by Kai-Tang, the most prestigious an honorable warrior in their tribe. Whenever Yuna and her friends went out to play, they were always guarded by a warrior of their tribe. The warriors were kind and gentle, yet ferocious when it came to defending their home and their people, and Kai-Tang was no different. He was remarkably tall for a Nekozoku at 5'9 and carried with him a sense of honor and pride not found elsewhere on the entire island. All the tribes looked up to him as a valiant defender of their land and he protected his home with his trusty bamboo flute.

However, it was on this day that Kai-Tang would fail his tribe. As Yuna and her friends paddled around in the salty waters of the big, blue, sea, they failed to notice a dark, wooden, junk ship with blood-red sails approach the coast in the shadow of the trees, and rocky cliff. The sun was setting and the sky glowed an orange-gold color, casting a greater and darker shadow upon the approaching ship. Kai-Tang began his usual ritual.

As Yuna emerged from the waters of the ocean, she heard the soft and faint sound of music. A beautiful melody was carried along the coast by an ocean breeze. The dainty and delicate notes seemed... enchanting. Yuna couldn't help but to be drawn to it's source. Her eyes grew foggy and her senses dulled as she walked onto the beach towards a seated Kai-Tang; each step felt like she was falling into an eternal abyss, and darkness enveloped her eyes as she stood in a trace infront of the flutist; she was completely under the control of his yin release genjutsu.

With all 5 Nekozoku children around him and caught in a trace, Kai-Tang changed his melody. A new song projected itself from his flute, one imbued with the power of yang release. Suddenly, the vegetation in the surrounding area sprung to life; banana tree leaves, palm fronds, vines, and grass fibers, came together and formed into a sturdy twine which seemed to have a life of its own. As Kai-Tang continued his tune, the coils of green twine wrapped around each of the 5 Nekozoku children, including Yuna herself.

Yuna could feel the effects of Kai-Tang's genjutsu wearing off, but just as quickly did it disappear, did her entire body become enveloped and bound in robust twine. Her arms were tied tightly behind her back in a boxtie which was tied to a collar that was tied around her neck, ensuring that if she struggled in her binds, she'd choke herself. Her ankles were bound together and her upper thighs as well, preventing the use of her legs; twine tied her thighs to her shins, limiting her mobility even further as she finally came to her senses. Before she could scream for help, a thick cord of twine wedged itself inside her mouth, silencing her to all but a faint whimper. As tears began to roll down her eyes, a palm frond and banana tree leaf were woven together and used to blindfolded her, reducing her visibility to absolute zero. Just as the slave-traders landed their boats on-shore, the rest of the twine was used to encase each of the Nekozoku children in small wicker baskets.

Inside her basket, Yuna screamed out and cried for help the best she could but to no avail. As she was picked up and carried away by the corsairs, she tried to struggle against her bindings, but only ended up choking herself and making the situation worse. She couldn't see anything, but felt the thud of being placed on-board the little boat. Then she felt the rocking of the boat, and could hear the slave-traders laugh as they rowed away from her home.

Kai-Tang of course, got a cut of the profits and returned to the tribe seemingly distraught, claiming that there was nothing he could do to save all the children as the tide came in and pulled them out towards the sea where they drowned.

Sold Into Slavery

“I want you to marry me, Yuna.”

The words echoed and hung in the air like a hangman’s noose. Yuna was only 8; she didn’t know what to do; she barely understood the concept of love and sexuality.

“Not yet, of course, but when you’re of suitable age, we shall be wed my dear.”

Yuna could only listen to her master’s words. He was a young, naïve, arrogant man, probably around 19 or so, but somehow he possessed unnatural wealth, status, and power.

It was an uncomfortable position to try to sleep in, as her arms were suspended above her head the entire night, but in no time at all, Yuna fell fast asleep, exhausted from her crazy day and her introduction to her new life as her master’s property.

It wasn’t long until Yuna began to feel unwell and her maids informed her that she was pregnant and expecting. She was only 12 years old.

She wanted to die.

After spending 3 days with a high fever, Yuna’s health gradually improved, but everytime she looked in the mirror at her scarred self, she was reminded of her fate. He damnable, inescapable fate! It was something that would never get better and never improve; her destiny was set in stone. She felt it in her heart:

She would never be free.

When Yuna had finished recovering from her pregnancy and injuries, she was to serve her master once again. If she failed to deliver him a baby boy, she feared for her life what might happen to her. She didn’t ever want to try again.

Within a year and at only 14 years old, Yuna was informed—much to her despair—that she was pregnant with her third child. This child would prove to be her last.

“I wanted a son you useless, insufferable, traitorous slut!” the master shrieked, “You have deceived me for the last time, all of you!”

Fire & Brimstone

Over the course of nearly a year, Yuna, Hina, and Hinata were imprisoned and broken by the palace torturers. They were subjected to cruel and unusual punishments that included the use of various torture devices such as the wooden horse, the strappado, and the judas cradle. Beaten, bruised, cut up, whipped, and barely fed, they endured pain, humiliation, and misery; to them, death was the better alternative.

Though the girls had already suffered greatly, Yuna’s master still found their treatment dissatisfactory; he needed something more. To set an example to those who serve him, he announced a public display of the penalty of treachery. With this show of power, none would ever defy him again.

Recovery

The Bare Essentials

Although the Land of Tao was unified under the Taoist religion, they were still tolerant to other religions and places of worship. The monk who had rescued Yuna and her companions was Buddhist and upon entering his temple, the three girls were greeted by a large, golden statue of the buddha. It was the monk's belief that such suffering was within his power to heal, and so he took it upon himself to forge for his guests a new life.

Aside from their daily chores and lessons, there was one other thing that the monks had to teach Yuna and her friends. Rather, it was more of a warning. Off the road next to the temple and across the tall-grass field was a forest.

"Never go near that forest, Yuna," the elder monk warned her, "those who enter never return. The place is home to demons."

Midnight Exchange

Even though she loved the monks and the precious time she'd spent at the Buddhist temple, Yuna longed for nothing more than to return home to her mama and papa in the Land of Fruit. It pained her to say goodbye to what had essentially become her new family, but she had made up her mind: After the sun had risen, she'd be off.

"You wench! You set me up! You had us followed!" he yelled, "We never should have trusted the likes of you!"

From the shadows, several other men in matching armor emerged, each bearing the familiar crest of Yuna's previous master; they had been followed!

"Light it up!" a loud voice boomed. It was the leader giving orders, but what did he mean by "light it up?"

Suddenly, Yuna heard several men simultaneously yell, "Fire Release: Dragon Fire Technique!" They were lighting the temple on fire, burning everyone alive inside while they slept.

"Get him!" the leading soldier shouted, "the bastards got a staff!"

"Hinata!" Yuna whispered loudly, "Hinata!"

Into The Woods

Upon reuniting with Hinata and Hina, the three women got into a quick fight, with Yuna and Hinata grilling Hina for her treacherous actions. Although they were angry, they were more sad than anything else: The feeling of betrayal felt like an icy blade to the heart. Yuna was in tears, her heart broken, having witnessed the bravery and sacrifice of the monks.

Despite Yuna's distrust of Hina, she knew that the girls were going to have to work together if they were going to survive and followed Hinata's lead in their self-preservation efforts. As the three girls crawled through the tall grass, they inched closer and closer to the forest the monks had warned them about.

"The monks told me never to go in there," Yuna spoke softly, "I don't think it's a good idea."

"They went this way!"

"Look, the grass is parted!"

"I see small footprints!"

As the soldiers drew closer, a pair of arms grabbed Yuna, as Hinata flung the little nekozoku over her shoulders. With little time and no where else to go, their only choice was to escape through the forest, although they were sure they wouldn't make it far before they were caught. Still, they had to try!

No sooner had the women set foot in the forest, did the captain and his men emerge from the grass, all them grinning widely as they set their eyes on the prey. However, within moments their smiles faded and looks of unease crossed the soldiers' faces as they stopped their pursuit at the fringes of the forest.

"Captain, what do we do!" one soldier asked worriedly. The Captain was thinking.

"We... wait." He replied steadily, unsure of what exactly to do. In truth, he had no desire to enter that forest. He wasn't suicidal. He had a wife and kids to go home too. It wasn't worth it. No way in hell was it worth it.

As Yuna and her fellow women fled into the forest, the captain watched as they disappeared into the trees. "They'll be dead by the morning," he whispered to himself.

The Silk Slave Mistress

"Sweet dreams?" Manjushage inquired, as she gave Yuna a seductive smile.

And it was.

It was hopeless.

On Hinata's back, Yuna watched as several, silvery tendrils flew past her on either side and caught up with Hina, each grabbing hold of one of her limbs.

Trivia

Yuna's Odyssey Theme: Emma’s Sorrow

Yuna's Melancholia Theme: Isabella's Lullaby

Due to Manjushage's Juinjutsu, Yuna cannot absorb natural energy in any shape or form. As a result, she is incapable of learning senjutsu and thus, is also incapable of turning into stone because of it. Her body naturally rejects it, however, she can still be damaged by it, as would any other human.

Because of her crippled legs, Yuna is unable to perform the Body Flicker Technique.
